Pre-Season Games 2018

shame the highlights don't include the lovely break involving Goncalves, which should have been a goal had Ashley-Seal not lost his footing

I thought Goncalves looked very good, David Silva-esque. Needs to muscle up a bit but thought he looked very sharp.

Agreed he looks superb on the ball. Perhaps he can get some gym tips from Costa who seems huge compared to last season. Another promising youngster to keep an eye on.

All sounds like positive stuff, nice to hear about Giles doing well.

Anyone know if it's being covered anywhere but Wolves TV?

With Barry Douglas still injured (although not far away from a return judging by his post-match workout on the pitch) and Ruben Vinagre away with Portugal Under-19s, Giles has the shirt and he's doing it justice.

In terms of ability and quality you wouldn't say there looks to a huge amount of difference between him and Vinagre.

Come on now Tim.

If the experiment works it may save Wolves a few quid in the transfer market. After Roderick Miranda's departure they're short of defenders but a Saiss switch could negate that.

Yeah, we only have five centre halves plus Saiss. It's not numbers we're short of, it's that we're not sure if Bennett/Hause are good enough for the PL (and we're pretty sure Batth isn't).

Why do people keep advocating moving Saiss to the back when it would leave us with Neves and MGW in midfield?

Because there was a speculative article somewhere suggesting it a few weeks ago which loads of people have treated as FACKT. I mean it might happen, but I'm not convinced.

I'm also far from convinced that we're signing Zinchenko (or trying to sign him) as a LWB.

I've always been very skeptical on bennett, but he looked very good yesterday and has played in prem before I think? Its now or never for hause too, really hope he comes through.

Agreed on both points. I can't see Nuno wanting Saiss at the back, he hasn't even hinted at it, and most people are overlooking the fact (or worse are even oblivious to it) that Zinchenko is a midfielder who played out of position last season.

He was very Stears-esque for Norwich in the PL. He'd look quite good for a long time but you knew the inevitable error was round the corner, and errors in the PL = goals.

We seem to have knocked them out of his game. There's only really Bolton's goal at Molineux that you'd say was down to a total fuck up by him.

Played him there yesterday (replaced Bennett in the right side of the 3)

I think I had him down for one of the Fulham goals from memory
