Pre-Season Fixture thread (22/23)

Poor Leo. Not even mentioned as being left out the squad.

Presumably Marques and Lonwijk are off on loan again (joining Perry) - they'll need to be far more successful than their respective spells last year given how highly rated they both are.
Wonder will Leo join up with Nuno .

A depleted U21s team lost 8-1 to Coventry yesterday. They sent out a senior team. Well done lads.

Reading the report I don't think they know!

We haven't bothered saying anything. But with seven U21s away with the travelling squad it'll be more like an U18s team. No idea why Coventry sent their full squad, did they not get the memo?

Traore off to Barcelona........for a scan on a hamstring injury.

Wolves have put an 18 minute pre-season training video up on YouTube…

The drills they are doing make it seem as if they are preparing for playing with two centre backs tbf!

Bruno had a dream
To change our football team
From five at the back to four and no wings backs

With Joao and Ruben
Nathan and Max
We only need [INSERT NAMES of a seriously talented ball carrying midfielder and a stellar striker] and we’re on our way back

Classic Football manager 2019 onwards tactic that, get your team out a morale slump by hammering someone's youth team and then telling your players they were fantastic.

Our schedule is really weird. Go to Spain for a week and then play two games in two days

Think we’ve had to fit in to other clubs schedules rather than the other way around after our initial pre-season plans hit the rocks.

I'm starting to get optimistic again now, after he's had more time with the players that we'll see that 'Bruno ball' style that he started with last season. The additions of Collins and MGW, the kinder start fixtures wise, and him (hopefully!) having learned from some of the experience of last year. I'm absolutely convinced there's a good, attacking coach in him. Maybe blindly, maybe romantically as that's my perfect vision for how the game should be played, but I'm definitely getting excited. Even getting half a hope that we'll actually see a net spend of c£50m so we can give ourselves half a chance of entertaining a top half finish. Those first three games last year man, we were fucking brilliant. It was so alien stylistically. If we can get near that and keep it up instead of just regressing to this attritional bollocks, it'd be wicked.

We really weren't that good :D

Deserved a point at Leicester. Though they had plenty of chances first half and could have been away and clear. That wasn't even as good a display as when we lost there at the start of 2018/19.

Dodgy as fuck penalty for them for sure but we didn't create huge amounts vs Spurs. Not convinced Lloris made a proper save in the second half.

Should have beaten United and handsomely, of course. As it turns out they were an awful team, so meh.

I think there is a pathway to a decent season, but it's littered with ifs
If we play with a back 4
If one of those isn't Coady
If we keep MGW and if if plays behind a forward(s) and if he can bring something close to his Championship form
If we can sign another forward and midfield option
If we keep Neves
If we are lucky with injuries and suspensions - it's still going to be a small squad
If Lage can actually change a game that isn't going our way - which doesn't mean lobbing on every attacking option and hoping for the best
If Raul isn't shot
If we can become more clinical
If we play attacking, front foot football
If players are selected on football merit alone
