Pre-Season 2023/24

That would have been a lovely goal if Cunha had connected properly

Sitter for Lemina too

I do love that people are writing us off as relegation fodder after 30 mins of a training exercise
Where has anyone said that?

We should comfortably be level. Had enough chances now.

He has been fucking shit at the back, every time they come down our right we are fucked. Ball inside standing watching
Purely down to the way Lop has us set up. Nunes is the right sided midfielder and he's not tracking back, leaving Semedo completely isolated on any counter. Whereas Hodge is covering with Bueno on that side.

We’ve been pretty good on the ball, dominating at the moment. Lack of killer instinct in the final third.

Struggled to press early on and back four were too high.

Extremely worried about us at right back this season though and Dawson has looked well off it in last 2 games. Friendlies so not too worried but he can’t take this form in to the season.

Certainly Semedo is more exposed if we continue with Nunes on the right of a midfield 3. I think Lop trusts Semedo with that role though as he's a decent one on one defender.

Is Gomes only going to play in the role Lemina is in currently?

Rarely threatening, frequently vulnerable. Disorganised, and with little in terms of attacking plan.

I know they're better footballers and all that, but a front three of Sarabia/Cunha/Neto isn't really that much more dangerous than one of Jarvis/Doyle/Kightly which is pretty mad

Strange half. Shouldn't be losing but also could have conceded 4 or 5.

Terrible miss by Matheus but he's been ok generally.

Cunha isn't a striker which we already knew.

Dreadful by Lemina on the goal but good otherwise.

Kilman is still Kilman, half hearted challenges, easily beaten by any ball over his head, how the fuck have we turned down £30m for him.

Sarabia and Neto decent.

Hodge is dreadful, no idea what they see in him.

We've been good mainly, Celtic goal came from a mix up in Defence but other than that we have looked pretty solid.
3,000 Wolves fans out singing 20,000 Celtic and having a good laugh despite the score

I don't think this formation works for us personally. Get Gomes and Lemina in a double pivot, Nunes or Cunha to join them depending on the type of game/scenario and a proper CF.

Agreed. 4-2-3-1 suits the players we have much better IMO, with Neto-Cunha-Nunes/Sarabia behind a striker. We've got to start giving Sasa and Silva a go in that role.

The main thing I find odd is why we've set up with Cunha as a 9 when we have Silva and Sasa on the bench who he could play behind in a 4-4-1-1. It's a friendly, but I didn't anticipate us going into the season playing a 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation.

Comfortable in possession, creating chances, not taking them, vulnerable on the break and a goal down because of an individual mistake. Almost like the strengths & weaknesses from last season are exactly the same now. Weird how that happens when you don't buy anyone.

That space behind Kilman & Dawson is so easily attacked, Kyogo is causing both of them all sorts of problems.

Matheus is clearly the most talented player on the pitch but that miss just sums his time at Wolves up.

Sarabia, Neto, Cunha, Matheus, Bueno & Semedo looking really good when we get into their final third.

Joe Podge needs a loan to a League 1 side. Hopefully he has a half decent campaign there and we can scam someone out of a few hundred grand.

Hopefully we see plenty of changes 2nd half and a switch of formation.

Kalajdzic we're going to have to be patient with. Still in recovery from his injury.

Fábio isn't as good as Cunha, is probably going to leave and has only just joined up with the squad.

The selection makes sense IMO. Apart from Hodge. Selecting Hodge is never sensible.
