Pre-Season 2016/17 Season

http://www.wolves.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/kenny-young-players-get-chance-3186598.aspx

Ennis is clearly very well thought of at the club.

Delighted we managed to tie him down to a pro deal amidst the interest from United, City and Chelsea.

Is it just me misinterpreting, or does anyone else think KJ is contradicting himself again here:
“Niall had pre-season with us and it’ll be interesting to see how he plays.

“It’s a step up for Niall - he was injured at the back end of last season and would have been in and around the first team at that particular time.

“Of his age group, and people have to realise he’s only just turned 17, he is a very good player and his England recognition proves that.

“When you see him play for England you realise that for his age he is an outstanding player.

“Transferring that into first-team football is his and our responsibility now, and our challenge, and he’s not anywhere near that yet.

Niall isn’t necessarily ready for the Championship now, but it’s fair to say his performances for England have been very good.
Son on the verge of the first team 9-12 months ago, yet not currently ready for championship football now?
I appreciate he's returning from an injury, but this doesn't make sense.

Not really - we had nothing to play for at the end of last season so maybe we would have been given a go?

Still - we had other academy players who WERE available that KJ decided not to give a chance but that's another gripe.

Makes sense to me, dead games 2-3 months ago and the lad could've got in a few match day squads, maybe the odd sub appearance. That's not saying he's ready to step up and make an impact at that level, hence the second comment, but he's done enough lower down to deserve a chance.

We've got a game in 2 hours btw.

I'd imagine that we'll see a similar line up to the Shrewsbury friendly.

Ikeme; Iorfa, Batth, Hause, Doherty; Wallace, Price, McDonald, Saville; Henry; Mason.

Starting XI - would imagine Edwards for...Saville and Dicko for Mason or Henry and that's our strongest squad at this point in time. Hopefully the takeover comes at a time where there's time to reinforce before the window shuts, no loans for us this season!

Iorfa puts us 1-0 up at Crewe

Wallace has been motm and with the 2nd half changes Connor Coady is playing right back!

I'd rather have him there than polluting central midfield with his first touch that goes 20 yards. Of course I'd prefer overall to just sell him immediately for any money at all.

Hope Wallace has a good impact this season. Was shocked at how people (including KJ) wrote him off so early last season. A very talented footballer and when he starts scoring I don't think he will stop

He lacks power

Only 45 minutes I know, and up against Helan who is a terrible left back, but he was extremely impressive against Sheff Wed on the final day of last season.

Nice to hear that, wallace is one kind of player we need

It seems as though we have ex Barcelona B full back Godswill Ekpolo on trial for the u21s at Hednesford today.

Forget that. We have a returning great on the bench.

Saw that too, Deutsch will be fuming :icon_lol:

I've just about dealt with Brexit and the terrible consequences it may bring. I've reluctantly accepted a Theresa May mandateless Government for the next four years. I'm resigned to England's current status as footballing also rans. But Olofinjana back in a Wolves squad? You just pushed me too far, 2016.
