****POLL NOW IN OP****Who do you want next?

Yes, at championship level. Nuno was their only real good appointment. We now need someone on a whole new level, and that isn't easy at all.

Lambert was a decent appointment for the situation at the time. He was never a long term solution else they wouldn't have sacked Jackett when they first took over the club.

As I said, Zenga an anomaly as we had agreed everything with Lopetegui.

They spent, spent, spent last season mate. Nearly £70m on Silva and Semedo. I would suggest that has been a factor in the decision too.

Not defending them, but they have spent a fair whack in the last few years.
Last year's spending was clearly for the future. Anyone who thought RAN, Fabio and Vitinha would make any significant impact this season is either naive or stupid. Most of us accepted it as a step backwards to take two forwards. If Fosun want top six within 4 years or less they will have to spend a lot more. Look at Everton, spent millions, competent manger yet outside of place qualifying for Europe. Look at the league table this season and then you can appreciate how much of an achievement two 7th placed finishes were. Anyone expecting the same again given how we spent our money last summer is a fool. The pressure on there new manager will be massive if what Nuno achieved is deemed sufficient.

He did on the former, but i think that was more to do with going home to his family as much as anything. I think the latter statement is part of the "mutual consent" deal, rather than thinking he couldn't go any further. I don't believe that for a minute from a professional coach of any sport.

I have to say though everyone involved in the last couple of days deal has handled it with dignity. Maybe SAF was the only other manager i ever saw who got a standing ovation from fans when leaving a club. Normally they are out of the back door never to be seen.
It was decent of Fosun to stay away and let Nuno take all the plaudits/cheers.

Ranieri when he left Chelsea.

Was clear to everybody he was going in that close season and I think he got a really good send off.

As an aside, there were also ten days between Zenga going and Lambert being appointed and one day between Jackett and Zenga.

As lots of you have said, must be close with the backroom staff being told to go.

I'm less convinced about the second point. I'm on the fence, really, but I wouldn't be shocked to see any/all of the following leave or be sold:
  • Troare
  • Saiss
  • Boly
  • Neves
  • Moutinho
  • Podence
  • Dendoncker
  • Patricio
Basically, any first team player who had a good relationship with Nuno. Again, not saying I think this will happen, just wouldn't be surprised if there was a bit of an exodus.
You really think we will sell 8 first team players? We would then need to replace the 8 AND buy at least 3 more.
Never gonna happen Alan

i missed that one. It doesn't happen very often though. Glad he was able to leave like a hero, he deserved it.

Ranieri was sacked by Leicester but as I recall they gave their thanks the next game too with banners and so forth.

Lambert was sacked a fortnight before Nuno came, it just wasn't officially announced

I can't remember to be honest. I'm just going off articles.

Either way, Jeff voiced support for Lambert and Jackett and it seemed opportunism for better quality managers took over. I just wonder if that has happened here.

Jackett was leaving the second Fosun took over, even he knew it. Lambert was toast after we lost at Bristol City in front of the Fosun top brass. All that tells you is that Jeff says the polite thing at the appropriate time, not that something better came along so he sacked them

I do mean at Chelsea. He was in situ when Ambramovich arrived and it was clear they were going to go with a new manager as the season progressed then on the final day they made a fuss of him at Stamford Bridge. 2004ish.

Oh I know, I was just making the point he had a farewell at Leicester too albeit slightly different!

He looked like a man with the weight of the world off his shoulders at FT. I don't think we will ever find out what truly happened and who encroached the conversation first, but I do think he wants to be back with his family and just have a rest.
In the interview on WM after the match the reporter pushed for more info. Nuno just said “everything has been mutual consent from day one, that is how we work”

Bruno Lage’s agent is...Gestifute
Transfer budget will be in Mendes money
I reckon we will see similar types of deals that Nuno got in his first season - below market value
Current squad will look different next season with established players moving on in the Mendes Merry go round.

Not that its connected but Romano tweets that Gattuso has left Napoli

It certainly wouldn’t be boring with Gattuso in charge.

I did literally say that "I don't think this will happen". 😂
