****POLL NOW IN OP****Who do you want next?

From elsewhere:

"Tim Spiers said in his interview during the pre-match show that Lage has been spoken to at some point, but some bigger names have shown an interest in the last 48 hours."
I heard that on there too. That would make it interesting, but yes of course it could be just club speak. Also the bigger the name the more he's going to want to spend....

Wow.

Now the emotions are out of the way, the more I think about it the more this makes sense. Obviously as fans we're happy with UEL quarter finals and FA Cup semi finals given our recent history.

Fosun aren't.
In which case Fosun need to spend, spend, spend. Looking at thdd Ed table there aren’t many teams above us that we can feel disappointed about being below them given budgets. I’d suggest Newcastle, possibly Villa and Leeds.

They spent, spent, spent last season mate. Nearly £70m on Silva and Semedo. I would suggest that has been a factor in the decision too.

Not defending them, but they have spent a fair whack in the last few years.

They need to spend, spend, spend on some decent players for next season. Not decent players for 5 years time.

I don’t trust a word that comes out of Jeff Shi’s mouth, unfortunately. I guess we have no other option than to blindly believe they’ll get the managerial appointment right, then make funds available and then get the recruitment right.

Really struggling to believe this.

I reckon it is true but will make little difference.

We're an attractive job now: a club building to challenge the top six with exciting, young players on the books. Up and coming coaches/managers will fancy a punt.

Big name is very subjective tbh. I doubt Allegri faxed over his CV.

I'm actually struggling to think who it would be outside of the names that have been getting mentioned already.

I’m just trying to think of who these actual big names are, and coming up with very little

Probably Fonseca if he can be considered a big name.

Zidane has entered the betting on SkyBet but doubt it is him.

Maybe Pedro Martins? He was linked a couple of months ago IIRC.

Odds shortening much more on Lopetegui too - not that it means much but we have history there.

They just finished 4th so will be back in CL next year

Not sure about his contract

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we went back in for Lopetegui. What is his situation at Sevilla?
Qualified for the Champions League again in 4th, so no reason to leave.

Maybe he thinks he's taken them as far as they can get just below Atletico, Real and Barca. Or maybe he thinks he owes us one after leaving us for Spain after verbally agreeing to join us.

Can't see it though personally.

We did once offer the job to Marco Silva. It was his whenever he wanted it in late 2016. I don't see us going down that road, although he does have excellent hair and nice coats.

AVB makes an awful lot of sense.

Links to Portugal. Links to China. Won trophies. Managed in European competition. Overall, has a good record. Still young, as far as managers go. Generally plays a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 so suits our squad.

I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised. He’s probably ready for another crack at the PL too.
