Norwich 3 v Wolves 1 - not the game we wanted verdict thread

Awful dive from Hoolahan. Looked like he was almost horizontal before he'd even reached Ikeme's leg.

Ikeme's an eejit for reacting like that though.

Also couldn't help but be amused by the "highlights" including at least 30 seconds of Doherty slowly getting changed. :icon_lol: Essential viewing!

Zidane on Materazzi was ok then? :icon_lol:

You *might* get away with it 7 or 8 times out of 10. If you choose to do it then you're depending on a referee's generosity or lack of bottle. It's a red card offence.

It's away from home that they've been terrible, going into today they'd won three of their last four home games (including a 5-0 and a 3-0) with three clean sheets.

Indeed, the Beeb were reporting earlier only Brighton, Huddersfield and Leeds have better home records.

Woeful from Stears on the first goal, I don't think it's a pen but Ikeme is a moron for shoving him over.

I think you are being harsh on both occasions here. Stearman has a second to react and is trying to get the ball away from Jerome, where it fell is bad luck. Ikeme pushes him in the chest, that's not a red it's a yellow, violent conduct in that instance has to be to the face. At worst he should have been sent off for 2 yellows the 'foul' and the push. No point appealing though, they won't overturn it.

Agreed. It's not a penalty but to react like that? Come on, Carl - you've been around long enough to know you don't act like that. Don't think he's got a leg to stand on with any appeal so if he misses Annfield it really is his own fault.

BTW Doherty's dive for the pen resembled my nan rolling off a bean bag.

That wasn't a shove!

I'd argue that 9 times out of 10 a simple shove in the chest will be a yellow and Ikeme was unlucky today. Not that I'm saying he wasn't an idiot for doing it, and he only has himself to blame for giving the ref an opportunity to send him off.

Being afflicted with colour blindness made both tops look the same to me

I think they were WAAAAAY too similar for my liking.

Our fault as a club. You KNOW Norwich are in the division so making a second kit that clashes with them as well is fucking dense in the extreme.

Stearman should be playing the way he's facing and heading it out for a corner. Do not try a backwards header into a blind area on the edge of the box when you have absolutely no idea what's there.

Just seen it Ikeme is a fucking idiot for raising his hands and has given the ref a decision to make, I know he was frustrated after what Hoolahan did but no excuse.
But incompetent of refs with suffered this season is unbelievable.

It's going over his head though, he gets what he can on it.

Surely we should have borrowed some of Norwich away kit for the game it's really difficult to spot the difference.

Having just looked it up, it seems as though a shove to the chest is a yellow card, unless the ref deems excessive force was used, then he can give a straight red for violent conduct. So that is obviously how the ref saw it today. No complaints there.

Obviously the club will have to gauge whether an appeal is worth it. Norwich themselves a couple of years ago appealed a Bradley Johnson red card for a push in the chest. Which they won.

On the violent conduct thing if a shove is classed as such then there will be a hell of a lot of red cards being banded about, which doesn't happen. I think if you nut, punch or slap someone it's a straight red. For a shove a yellow makes sense.

That said shoving someone invites the ref to make a decision right or wrong and Ikeme should know better.

Disappointed but sounded like we were on top after our penalty. As our youth team players would say "we go again"

Don't think we should over react to this loss, yes its disappointing, sounds like we were crap 1st half and just when we were getting on top they got a dodgy pen followed by Ikeme being a numpty. Think we're still on the right track, just a bit more work to do

This exactly

Stearman was our man of the match for me, though I've not seen the highlights. Some excellent challenges and headers, always covering and excellent pace whenever Doherty was out of position (which was quite a lot, though he played pretty well the rest of the time).

Mason was anonymous and should have been hooked earlier. Cav was pretty poor although he and Doherty were probably our biggest threat in the first half with some great triangles - but too many times he slowed it down and then lost it, I would say he was hooked for not bothering defensively though, just trotted back even when the ball was being held up around our left back area - really irritating.

Edwards didn't have a good game when he was deep, his positioning was terrible but had a couple of good interceptions and tackles high up - price was really good defensively but his longer passing was poor. Good short distribution though.

Defensively we looked alright until the sending off (bar the goal obviously) except for an awful back pass from batth that ikeme bailed him out of.

Overall I felt that once we equalised that we were in the driving seat so the red card and penalty were really disappointing, we were never in it after that.
