Next Manager

I wouldn't rule that out Mr EP

"Wolves today unveiled their new manager..."

I'd sack him today. I'm not sure I see Hobbs/Shi willingly admitting they've made a mistake that quickly, but I do agree that if we lost the next four (Man City/Villa/Bournemouth/Newcastle) they'd almost be forced in to doing something. I appreciate to someone normal, a discussion should already be taking place, but these clowns gave him a 3 year contract, ffs!

I also don't see us losing all those matches. Not because I trust the manager, but just because we have a few good players in the squad and they'd probably be able to get at least one win out of those matches whether GoN was stood on the sidelines flapping his arms around or not.

If the heat is on then Shi will throw Hobbs under the bus just as he did Sellars. There is no United front.

Sellars was gone inside 4 weeks of the Leicester game when the crowd lost it.

I'd much rather Shi be targeted than Hobbs this time around

Has he been seen since the Brighton game?

I agree, Shi is the biggest problem at the club but I can't recall any trees being pulled up to facilitate Matt Hobbs meteoric rise from head youth scout to head scout to sporting director inside five years.

Hobbs was the cheap option - the go to option it seems, for Shi(t).

Hobbs' fingerprints are all over the appointment of GON. I would have little problem with Hobbs being demoted for someone with pedigree, ideally sacked along with Shi(t).

Hobbs was doing ok. Good in the press and built a decent relationship with JL. Spoke with some honesty etc

Clearly has a thing for young and British on the coaching side of things and when he got given the budget for JL's replacement it fell into his favoured area. If he entertained the idea of Lampard etc, I would say it was done so to make his decision on GO look more valid. Sadly he got it wrong.

As for Jeff, I honestly don't see anyone from Fosun firing him.
Jeff goes when Fosun go. Now it could be said his near invisible act is because Fosun are trying to sell and Jeff is out there doing the business side of that. I doubt it though. All being lined up for a " I told you the success was down to me, I go and it goes to shit...so I am back running everything, you all nod as I say things and nothing else" return from Mr Shi

Can't see them sacking O'Neil in the short term and losing face, but if things are pear shaped by Christmas it may be forced on them.
I have no idea of foreign leagues so don't know of any suitable managers, and as far as British managers go, I can only think of Potter.
Any ideas ?

Done it before.

Walter was binned when it was clear it wasn't going to work.
Slightly longer spell but they decided Lambert was not going to work before the end of the season and started to look for his replacement.

Is it fair to say that Lage is really the only manager we’ve let stay well past his sell-by date? We’ve been pretty ruthless otherwise IIRC.

Under Fosun, yeah. But it's a small sample size.

Historically, absolutely no.

By comparison Zenga was sacked on 25th October, we have 3 league games until then

Almost fits into the 3 or 4 more defeats a lot of us think will be the end of GO

Zenga had one or two weird results that kept things ticking over, 2-0 away at Newcastle etc.

The chance of O'Neil getting a similar result against City, Villa or Newcastle is pretty slim and the stakes are much higher.

Bournemouth away is the 3rd. Would put a neat bow on the sacking.

Bournemouth are shite, I would fancy us to beat them if we were set up properly. But spot the major flaw there.

Also more games in the Championship, earlier. He'd managed 14 league games and three LC games. The equivalent for GON would be making it to early December, and with the international break just a couple weeks earlier it makes me more confident that that's when a replacement will be coming in.

Well, that's the PR line from the club, but Lop still fucked off during his first pre-season unhappy and making veiled comments about being lied to, so the relationship can't have been that great??

Lop said in his interview with Ballbag that he had no problem with Hobbs, he liked working with him.
