Well, that's the PR line from the club, but Lop still fucked off during his first pre-season unhappy and making veiled comments about being lied to, so the relationship can't have been that great??

From his "see ya pals" statement when got out of town he was still happy with Hobbs.
I think Jeff is the one he was unhappy with.

the bigger issue for me at the club is the higher management and lack of long term strategy.
Since fosun took over, we have had 2 managers last over 12 months, none of the others have worked out.
One of those managers lasted a lot longer than they should have done, and they should have gone in under 12 months.
The other is the best manager most modern wolves fans have seen in their lives.
The lack of a focused and consistent business strategy is what is likely to hamper a decent quality replacement.

No optimism from me, but you're comparing apples with oranges. GON was a last minute, right before the season appointment when the list of managers available was tiny. No-one worth their salt wants to come in at such short notice under those conditions.

If we were to look for a new one around Christmas or new year then there'd be a much bigger pool of people available and interested.

I would probably be picking Ivan Juric from Torino, as the next manager I expect a De Zerbi like rise to prominence.

Doing something different with a lesser fancied side a bit like he did prior to his move to Kyiv. Torino currently 9th but looked really good.

I think Allardyce honestly gets a rough rap because he’s such a dickhead, but I think he’s a solid (if meat-and-potatoes) manager.

He looked completely lost at Leeds, however. I think that squad was horrendously unbalanced and not terribly talented regardless, but he absolutely made them worse.

We can and should be aiming higher.

Let's not say things we can't take back. As much as I hated the gravy guzzling prick, I would begrudgingly accept he was ok up to about 2017, if you like that kind of thing. He's been bloody awful in every job since and he's 69 in a couple of weeks.

I'd take 2010 Mick McCarthy over 2023 Gary O'Neil, easily.
