Newcastle United (A) 09.12.2018

Would be ridiulous to drop MGW surely unless he’s injured, same with Raul.

Morgan was absolutely exhausted after the last game to be fair

Like tredman said though the news last week was wrong.

Jonzy is more often right than wrong is he not? I'm hoping he's wrong this time though with that front line, no issues with freshening things up but would prefer 3 from MGW/Jota/Cav/Jiminez/Costa to start, suppose it depends on tiredness or knocks

Traore for Jiminez (unless he is injured/suspended) is equally crazy.
I get why that might happen, Raul runs himself into the ground every game.

I thought he looked ok, apart from being disappointed to come off.

I think it’s 50/50 really sometimes gets it right often not as well

We are about to enter a very busy period and it may also be a tactical thing considering how Newcastle will probably set up. However, last year Nuno didn’t change the team very often at all despite how many games we played.

Watching on TV (cough) MGW was flat out. I was furious that he was being taken off ahead of Saiss/Joao as both were close to getting another card butquickly realised was visibly exhausted. First start at this level so completely understandable

Can see Traore (and the old Costa) doing very well against what is essentially a championship defence

Didn't notice that, but it was pretty mental after Jota's goal. He did continually keep moving, running and chasing for his whole time on the pitch, so could see why he might be knackered. Wouldn't his recovery time be quicker than older players though? It would be a real shame to leave him out - the form he is in it looks like he could take the world on.

That line up would be a mistake. Starting Traore up front is a mistake full stop he can't hold the ball up at all.

I can understand resting a few players - especially Moutinho and MGW - but starting with Traore and Costa is just plain wrong

Neves for Moutinho I get, the rest is bollocks though and hopefully wrong.

Hopefully someone has fed that info to the source to smoke out whomever thinks it is a good idea to give confidential team info to Jonzy every fucking week. So it is a ruse and we actually aren't playing that garbage line-up.

It's got to be rubbish bringing Costa in after that sub appearance Wednesday and Traore to start FFS.
If that does happen and Costa isn't on one of his occasional good days it will be extremely frustrating.

IMO Play Neves for Moutinho as only change, play MGW and bring him off when he's run out of steam
and we're 2-0 up. Surely Raul and Jota will be chomping at the bit after their displays (especially Jota)

You don't drop struggling forwards after they score do you? Surely hoping that they go on a run is more likely.

They weren't much good against Cardiff who have the quintessential Championship defence. Could be a different story against Newcastle and I wouldn't be adverse to Costa starting providing he's got his mojo but I wouldn't like to see Traore in the starting lineup, especially up top. Bring him on with 20 to go by all means but not from the get go.

Oh i agree, just don't think it's the end of the world if they did start. A fast fluid front 3 against the Newcastle defense would be good to watch.

I'd much rather see the same team as the last game though.

MGW is a young lad & didn't play the full 90 om Wednesday so should have the energy for most of this game despite being very active v Chelsea.

Would rather he starts & Costa or Traore replace him later on in the game
