New - The things that really annoy you

Nah, I wouldn't be entertaining the idea of food there other than as a last resort. It's slam in the microwave crap, I mean you do get what you pay for but there's got to be a better option.

Their breakfast will be their top seller by some distance but it's so poor. Any halfway reasonable cafe will knock that out of the park and I'd much rather pay the extra couple of quid.
That's fair but I've had much worse food in other establishments for double the price. As I said it's not great food but it is consistently OK, in the ones I've been in anyway.

Oh yeah, that's fair. There'll be other bog standard chain pubs where you're paying more for less (in terms of volume and quality).

Del "Fake Nandos" Woppio :D

To be fair I last ate there in about 2013 when Darlo dragged me in that fucking shithole in town, as he tended to do back then. Philly cheesesteak baguette or similar and it was absolutely dismal, it might have only cost about £4 or something but it wasn't worth 40p.

It's like McDonald's as pub grub, you know it's not going to be great but you do know what it's going to be at least.
Again probably about right.

McDonald's ain't cheap now though! I haven't been in for a decade or so but saw this advertised on TV the other day:

That's a pretty shit deal for what it is tbh. Like it's not that long ago that the burger there was well under £1 on its own (no idea what it is now). The chips aren't worth £1, 4 nuggets won't touch the sides and I could buy a can of Coke if I wanted one.

Again probably about right.

Ridiculous prices. The £5 deal is good in comparison.

Try not to eat the shit but know folk who serve it and eat it.

There was something in the news lately how they're struggling a bit, prices rising but quality/variety not keeping pace.

Can't remember the last time I ate there. I've got a Five Guys similar distance from mine as the closest McDonald's and whilst you're probably close on 50% higher price the quality is far superior so it's a no brainer. Think the traditional big fast food brands are being edged out a bit, as takeaways become more of a treat for many you'd rather fork out a bit extra for better quality to make the most of it.

Went in the KFC near me a few months back when I was late getting back and couldn't be bothered cooking, was genuinely awful and absolutely deserted too. Then went to Meadowhall last week and Slim Chickens in there was heaving - more expensive but wasn't just eating a box of congealed fat and had a bit more variety with sides etc.

The place where my daughter works in the holidays which I won't name uses tips to balance the till. If a manager isn't within earshot she'll tell people to keep their money

The law is changing now so that tips have to be given to staff though isn't it?

Ain’t been to McDonald’s for years, ever since my Grandaughters grew up

I love a Big Mac and their nuggets, plus the barbecue sauce is great. That's all I ever have from there.

Best way to do it is to make sure you get a receipt every time you go. On top of that is a code to answer a quick survey online which gets you a voucher code for "any sandwich/6 nuggets plus medium fries for £2.99". And you can add the offer to the app and queue them up until they expire. So I never pay more than £3 for Big Mac/Nuggets + Fries.

I for one, think 5 guys is over rated and vastly over priced.

It's still just a burger and fries at the end of the day but if I had one at lunch time I know it'd taste good and see me through to the end of the day. If I had a McDonald's it would just be substance and probably leave me hungry within a few hours.

I suppose Maccies is catching up with 5 guys price wise.

Just always thought 5 guys is a lot of money for what is a burger and chips...oh and some nuts :ROFLMAO:

I'd rather have a chippy tea than have five guys or maccies, I presume the price isn't much different nowadays..?

Five guys is a premium fast food place here isn't it?

Where as in the US it's much more on Maccies level?

My local chippy does a special offer of fish, chips and mushy peas in a box for around £6-7. There's plenty for 2 people.

If you buy a huge fish and small chips then it's easily a tenner. But can easily feed 2 or 3 people.
