New - The things that really annoy you

When I lived in Bilbrook I had to avoid the Co-Op between 3pm and 4pm because it did my absolute nut in. Hordes of fat kids clogging up the aisles and stuffing their faces with sweets. Get the fuck out of here.

Child obesity is a massive, massive looming problem.
Sweets after school aren't the issue really. They'll rot your teeth i suppose, but it's the fast food and ultra-processed garbage that they eat for every meal that is the real contributing factor.

Fewer cars on the road should be a genuine aspiration. Always.

Just for a kick off, the amount of kids I see getting picked up from school when they could quite easily walk or take a bus is insane.
This. So much this.
Were I to drive to work (3.5 miles) it would take me an hour. Purely due to how many cars are queueing at every junction. The volume of traffic is obscene.
The same journey via bike is 15 minutes. Hell, I've walked it in the snow in 55 minutes.
Too many drivers are dropping kids at school, or short unnecessary journeys that could be walked.

What were they repairing?

All I will say on EV is get yourself in one and try before dismissing. Might be perfect for what you need, might not be but in general ignore the horror stories that people who are not a fan put out there, most of it is utter bollocks
My Son has a Cupra Born (Company Car), he’s driving us down to Heathrow in Jan.
A, I hope it’s got enough juice to get us there and B, for Del’s benefit, I hope there’s enough room for our suitcases.

My workplace is surrounded by schools & appreciate your experience. A mate used to live opposite a primary school in Codsall & in the 1990s their experience was horrible. Parents parking in front of, or sometimes on people's drives. Codsall ain't so big you need to drive from 1 side to the other ffs!

Our daughter walks to school and back everyday. It’s about a 30 minute walk either way.

Our son usually gets dropped off but that’s only because he’s too young to walk by himself and my wife would never make it to work on time if they walked. I cycle from work to school to pick him up and we walk back together.

My daughter walks home in the afternoon, she's 11, takes her about 40 mins. I drop her in the morning on the way to work.

My 7 year old gets dropped and picked up, she's too young to walk yet.

The way people drive around both schools is incredible.

I didn’t think it was possible to be a 40 minute walk away from anything over there! 😉

A 40 min drive on the other hand is pretty long for me. Couple more hours and I could be most places on holiday

Group exercises to come up with a "team mission statement" at 44 years old like I could give a fuck.
The. Worst.

Spent a whole day doing that once and I work at a secondary school 🤣

Took part in a recruitment process back in April and of the 10 people we took on (all very good), 2 young ladies are working with me (alongisde their other work) and providing me with support and doing very well. Lovely girls and very helpful. Their Team Leader (for the other work) who was off all summer with a health issue has recently returned to work and is now trying to butt in to their work with petty micromanaging.

There is a particular task which I have them doing the bulk of the work on a Friday when they have time, the final part of the task is completed on a Monday morning as 5 minute job. This TL is now insisting that they do the whole of the task on a Monday morning regardless of the other jobs they have to do on a Monday, predictably they are struggling with it - they sat on the work on Friday and were highly pressured on Monday carrying out the work.

Next Monday said TL says she will sit with them and watch them do the task to see how long it takes as she has never been involved with this work. Plus their tasks all have to be on a rota and coloured in green as they are done otherwise no 'evidence' that they have done the tasks (apart from the fact that the fucking job is done).

Fucking petty pen pushing jobsworths fucking annoy me. No need for it

And the nonsense continues:
Hi all

Settings in Teams is being challenged corporately at present, if you are on a call/meeting (this will show as you being in a call ) if presenting (sharing your screen this will show as presenting with the do not disturb icon) these instances are fine, however you should not be manually changing the settings to busy and do not disturb.

If you feel you need to change to busy or do not disturb can you let me know the reason why and how long it is needed, if we are challenged regarding settings that people have we can respond accordingly.

Kind Regards
