I’m pretty surprised though that people on here think it’s reasonable to appoint a manager with 15 first team games to get you through a season-long premier league relegation battle?

I’m pretty sure if saints or Leicester did that we’d be laughing for weeks.

If we appointed Nuno, who you want, the rest of the football world would be rightly laughing at us. Frankly I couldn't give a toss what other fans think, whoever we appointed was going to have a question mark, even Lopetegui when it looked like it was going to be him. Obviously if he comes it's a risk, but a more exciting one that taking a foreign coach with a number of sackings on his CV and although the 15 games is factually correct it's not like he came into football in the Summer. Imo it's a less questionable appointment than the last one we made

Reading between the lines from that interview, I'd say he's ours

I read it slightly differently - he’s clearly very confident and believes he’ll take any club he works for on an upward curve, but as a byproduct of that will have plenty of offers and will carefully pick the right one.

That would suggest he’s tempted by Wolves but the decision would rest upon the detail and the tone of the conversation he would have during negotiations.

I think he’s just keeping his options open which is the right thing to do, but if that assessment is anywhere near right and he subsequently decides he doesn’t want to come Jeff had better get his tin hat on.

Nothing against Beale at all, but now there is no margin for error. I think it’s really pushing it to expect he can come in and learn how to be a (premier league) manager without making any mistakes at all.

We’ve only played 11 games and are hardly cut adrift despite having an imbecile in charge for most of that time.

Beale would at least appear to be pretty savvy and capable of making improvements which would hopefully translate into a higher return of points. Every manager is going to be something of a gamble but it’s by no means all over if Beale (assuming it is him) misfires a little bit at the beginning while sorting out the mess that was handed to him

I think the refreshing thing is that,

1. It’s not the next cab off the mendes rank

2. Which indicates an actual search has been done, especially when Beale wasn’t a known ‘gem’ just operating at a lower level

3. A progressive coach who I’m told plays attacking football, which we’ve been crying out for.

Lage has left us in a shit predicament, however, I won’t say we are too good to go down, because no one is, but we are chronically underachieving so you’d like to think a semi decent coach should be able to improve things.

Remember, for how crap we have been, we beat leicester at the weekend we could very easily be sat 13th. Not as if we are cut adrift from the pack

Point 3 is key. I'm sure the media would be delighted to see us appoint Dyche, but if we get out of trouble it'll be because we play our way not fight or work our way out of it

It won't be a season-long relegation battle, that's the thing. This squad is massively punching below its weight currently as the previous manager was about as much use in the dugout as a traffic cone.

I don’t think so. We would have signed Nunes, Guedes and Collins irrespective of Bruno Lage. I imagine the head coach has some say but they are in no way central to recruitment.
