Surely Sevilla just hang on here and any contact from us and its "yeah, we are gonna need some compensation we don't want him to go"
Still my utterly uninformed bet as to where we will end up. Monchi under loads of pressure to get rid, we're in the market and his agent who could stitch it all together is, well, of this parish. Likely to be a conversation underway (one of many I'm sure) instigated by them if nothing else.

I actually think there are a few realistic candidates that would be decent appointments. And with the way the board seemed to change their stance on transfers as the summer went on, I don't think we'd just go for the safest, cheapest option so I don't believe we'd appoint Bruno Mk II.

Lopetegui, Martins, Amorim - maybe the latter isn't an easy pull with his situation at Sporting but either of the others are realistic and decent IMO.

I await the 'why cor we get Poch?' comments from Twitter.

Or we go elsewhere and they have to pay him off. Seems to me if we want him it's a win for all concerned.

Personally I'd be nervous about taking any manager straight from the sack before they've had chance to recharge their batteries

If we swoop in he won't be sacked, so no batteries to recharge

Marca reporting just now that Sevilla are working on what would be a complicated deal, while also stating that the starting point of them having their new manager lined up "isn't close" and that they kind of need someone in charge for the Champions League match on Weds...

<Standard disclaimer that odds don't necessarily reflect probability, and it doesn't take much money to move these markets>

You can't get any longer than 2/1 on Amorim with anyone as it stands.

It's as if Talksport want people to ring in and tell them they are talking shite...
Well yeah, radio clickbait.
I wonder how many of our games they've watched with Lage in charge, I'm going for a wild guess of between 0 and 3.

If you only watched us against Spurs and West Ham, you'd think "these look alright, play some decent stuff, some excellent footballers there, just need to knit it together going forward and they'll be fine".

If you watched all 46 Bruno Lage games you'd know it pretty much never knits together and our possession is entirely pointless and all for show.

Whilst I shouldn't let this put me off, Steve Cooper always looks like he has about a week of missed sleep to catch up on.
Or Mark Knopfler after a gruelling six weeks europewide tour.
(Can now be bothered to look up how to spell Knopfler)

I could sort of see Martins as a Lambert-style placeholder. First priority is to avoid relegation given our own inaction has put us in early peril - Zenga could easily have relegated us, it was becoming increasingly apparent that Lage could too so both needed to go. Looking at his record, you'd back him to do that?

Then as it was with Lambert, it's up to you. Do brilliantly and you're the man in possession, it's your job. Meanwhile we've still got our eye on others so if you're average or worse, you won't be here next season. It'd be easier to get Amorim (for example) in the summer than now, on a number of counts. Or Emery if he's out of contract with Villarreal then.

Ultimately at 18th in the league (19th if Forest win later) and with limited attacking options for the next 10 games at very least, it's going to be very hard to get Champions League managers to come here mid-season. Lopetegui is a different case as he might get sacked - although we can't afford to wait too long for that to happen. Like, you wouldn't want Collins and Davis taking charge of Forest, Palace and Leicester in the space of eight days, would you, we need to win two or even all three of those.

It's why I can see Martins happening, available now and *should* at least get us moving up the table. As I say, there's no way he'd be my personal #1 choice, but I do think he's quite a lot better than Lage.

Julen Lopetegui and Bo Svensson emerge as two of #Wolves’ top targets after the dismissal of Bruno Lage. Lopetegui currently at Sevilla, Svensson at Mainz. Pedro Martins not under serious consideration at this stage. Story with @mcgrathmike #wwfc

Who is Bo Svensson? Sounds like a Scandinavian model from the 70s
