These doc arguments are becoming so tedious and repetitious that I am starting to long for the days when we had adama arguments...
Careful, he ain't signed elsewhere yet...

Tbf this is the first argument about Doc since his resigning I think, all other stuff has been an anti Doc pile on, at least Dude is giving a bit of balance (even if he is wrong😉)

At the end of the day, I think everyone would be delighted with eating humble pie if Doherty is a success.

However, having seen him for years where he was consistently a terrible full-back, everyone is rightly sceptical about him being anything other than a terrible full-back.

Again, I'll remind people that Doherty was third choice for Nuno's bespoke right wing-back role, which, yes, he did well in when we played it. But that's like re-signing the second coming of Bully and playing him as a winger - he'd have been awful at it.

Think German Phil was his 1st choice but he was broken
Tried everything he could to get Jordan Graham to play as a RWB. He didn't like it and later moved to Birmingham and was used as a RWB

Would say he was 2nd choice but have to give credit to Doc as he sorted his shit out under Nuno. Changed his diet, attitude to training and got the results.

German Phil was the original idea but he was broken immediately

He then wanted Jordan Graham to play there and he said no

Credit has to go to Doc for how he adapted to that role and while it should be a given, he actually got himself fit for the first time ever rather than waddling round with a massive gut. But that role no longer exists so it's folly to pretend he'll have the same attacking output now, it pretty much isn't possible. Enough of us have seen him at RB for Spurs and Ireland and he was not good.

I would never have predicted how effective a wingback he'd become over the next three years, outside of the elite players he was as good as anyone when playing to his strengths. A WB not a FB.
