Loan Watch 2022/2023

Three years of subsiding loans until we can get shot of him. What a waste.

Sounds like he's on the Bright path, which isn't the right path

I heard that he'd expected (or had been told, I can't remember which) that he'd be first choice here, and then we signed Semedo. Kid's clearly basically been spending 2 years stropping that he's not first choice based on being a very good youth prospect at Liverpool; if a new start at a big club back in his home country hasn't reignited his fire, it's difficult to imagine what will. Suspect club or league with a lower profile than PSV will be even more beneath him and so he'll try even less, and he'll end up plummeting. What a fucking waste of money (and natural ability).

We signed Semedo four days after we signed Hoever, that narrative isn't true. He was never brought here to be first choice.

His attitude could be off for all I know, he's just shit though. He's slow, he's not good on the ball, he can't cross, he can't defend and he's not brilliant physically. Just a rubbish player.

Being left off the plane once isn’t a deathknell but he has to respond quickly and in a positive way or his career won’t recover.

I don’t think he’ll ever be great but based on what I’ve seen of him, he’s been done a massive disservice by whoever looked at him and thought, “yup, that’s a fullback”. He’s always looked more like a center half to me.

Should have been more clear, even if he responds to this the right way and makes a decent go of things from here on out, I don’t think he’ll ever be Prem level.

Realistic guess? Some poor MLS club will take a punt and realize that he’s Mancienne all over again (who, as some will know, came to New England with high expectations despite having failed everywhere else, and immediately was found out to be, well, bad).

Mancienne was quite a lot better than him. In a good Championship team (as we were) he was decent enough, as a defender he was fine on the ball (obviously lacking in that respect in midfield) and though our fans ridiculously overrated him to start with and glossed over his fatal flaws (some technical, some physical) he was alright. If Chelsea hadn't recalled him and he'd stayed here for the season we'd still have won the league. Could have developed but didn't for a variety of reasons. Gradually went downhill over the years.

If we loaned Hoever out to the Championship then I think the same as has already happened at PSV (it's only mid-August as well, FFS) would happen there. He'd play a tiny handful of games, look crap and get dropped. He just isn't very good.

Bad scouting and the good old Anfield Premium.

Fair enough, by the time I was able to watch Mancienne the tide had already turned on him.

From what I've seen he's not very good, I can live with players who lack talent (hello dangerous Dave) but give 100% every game. He just doesn't seem to try very hard and it's seems a change of scenery hasn't done anything to alter that.

Well while we're at it I was one of the ones who liked Mancienne. I also really liked Hammill and was convinced he was going to be great

Fabio in the Anderlecht starting XI for their Europa qualifier Vs Young Boys

Anderlecht lead 1-0 against young boys. Silva had a half decent game so far. Someone blasted in the rebound after the keeper pushed out a Silva shot.

Off after 81. Tired a bit and it's been a difficult game really with Anderlecht being under the cosh for most. Has held the ball up well when it has come up.
