In possession the tactics, though simple, were good and fairly effective (and would have been more so if neto hadn’t got injured).

Out of possession we were a bit of a mess as usual I thought. Though as said by many Liverpool are a fantastic team

our quick and close passing was also very good i thought.

I dunno, Slink. Liverpool set up even higher than normal and as mentioned by Carragher on comms, played the whole game as if there were five minutes to go and they desperately needed a goal. It was their set up that allowed chances, we didn't really play any different to how we normally do (we're always better at stretching the game and finding space in behind when Neto plays). Helped that Raul won far more in the air than he has done for most of the season.

I didn't notice anything innovative tactically from us, albeit you don't get the full picture on TV. Same shape, players all in the same roles they always play, including that weird "Dendoncker pushing on down the right" thing that never ever works but we've done about 10 different times this season, crap/no subs.

Definitely something we had worked on as Raul and Neto/Hwang all got in to those channels behind the full backs. Liverpool are always high and without Van Dijk you can see the difference and no Fabinho too.

I have no attachment to Bruno, i’m not as adamant that we should sack him as most on here although i would be closer to sacking him than backing him if there’s a good option out there.

Simple gameplan that succeeded (ish) as Raul held the ball up and Neto/Hwang exploited spaces. Wasn’t some genius gameplan. The first goal was proper Sunday league, missed a GK under no pressure. We also managed against the press better as Fabinho wasn’t playing and Thiago got injured.

Coming out with a phrase “Bruno got it spot for a guy who can’t coach” is a bit silly. It’s hyperbolic the other way which discredits the point (whilst accepting you weren’t being completely serious @slink). He obviously can coach, but there are a lot of people in the world who can coach, people in amateur football can be good coaches too. But being a good coach doesn’t necessarily mean a good manager, and certainly not a PL level one.

Playing Hwang was a fundamentally bad coaching decision which renders whatever good he may have done that game useless.

It wasn’t a genius gameplan but lots of teams struggle to get in the positions we did yesterday. Now were Liverpool at their best no but you’ve still got to credit us as well.

You know I wasn’t being serious and obviously a good coach doesn’t make a good manager but he got something right for a portion of this season or we wouldn’t have been in the top half even allowing for Sa’s expected goals conceded anomaly.

My point with everything still stands at, he’s not a great manager, he’s got tons wrong this season particularly in the last 2 months and rightly he’s got hammered for that but he is capable, he’s shown that but could he do it consistently i’m not sure and so i have no issue with those that want him out, I don’t particularly like the fact that anything good gets dismissed whether that be it at Benfica or here. Human nature is to concentrate on the negative so i get it but will always acknowledge the positives too, it’s only fair.
