Tonight the big match is surely ;-) Luxembourg vs Slovakia. If the Luxos win then they qualify for the Euros with Portugal who incidentally beat them 9-0.
Background (lifted from Wikipedia): Luxembourg has participated in every FIFA World Cup qualifiers since those for the 1934 World Cup and in UEFA European Championship qualifiers since those for Euro 1964. As of 2020, they have never qualified for any of these major tournaments. Luxembourg is the nation with the most qualifying campaigns in both of these competitions without ever making it to the finals.
Come on Luxembourg!

Do I watch Luxembourg try to make history? NB I work there. Or, do I watch Wolves U21s v PSV as I now know I have the option. Simple. Wolves ay we.

That lad Barreiro (spelling?) is very highly rated at Mainz, I believe.

Also wild: the Luxembourger who manages them has held the post for 13 years!

Barreiro. Good story for the lad coming from a Luxembourgish village to make it at Mainz.
Yep. 13 years for the manager. Weird. But, there again, he has transformed them and 'importing' loads of 'Portuguese' and 'French' players has been a great success story.
PS. Must admit that although I have seen a few internationals here over the years that I can only recall Jeff Strasser formerly of Kaiserslautern.

They don't even if they win. It's a 10 game group

Belgium against Sweden currently suspended as 2 Swedish fans shot dead in Brussels and the team refusing to play as a result

Jeez you are right. Thx. Badly misinformed on my part. Anyway they aren't dancing on the streets of Luxembourg after tonight's loss.

Pawson is far too card happy. Tarkowski was booked for a bog standard challenge earlier and Young now off for two very harsh yellows.

Didn't see the first but the second likely gets you a booking every time.

It's always noticeable week after week that refs will happily lay down the letter of the law against the lower clubs, but they let the bigger clubs get away with just that bit more and won't punish them indiscriminately like they should.

It's just a foul. Otherwise you are saying every foul that stops someone getting into the box should be a yellow.

Watching it back, two definite yellows. Such an idiot going to ground when he knows he's been booked. As stupid as Semedo vs Brighton at home last season.

Yep! Just seen the first which is as blatant as you're gonna get. The second could be considered a little bit harsh, but you can't make a tackle like that near your own goal and not get the ball (especially when you've already been booked).

Dyche taking off all his creativity for two crap defenders. Such dumb management.

Bringing Michael Keane on to shore things up at the back seems like a contradiction in terms.
