Pep is a genuis, but I don't understand his attitude to left back. I've started to think it's a bit now.

There's a good first touch and then there's whatever Foden just did. Some footballer.

Ake is a much better fit at LB but he insists on playing Gvardiol out there instead for some reason.

I wouldn't trust Gvardiol at CB, he's too aggressive. David Luiz-esque.

Some of man cities more recent signings have, to me anyway, looked like poor fits.

Phillips and Nunes were never going to be good for peps side. Grealish had to change how he was used to playing too

Gvardiol was one of the breakouts at the World Cup so I can see why they signed him. I'd imagine however most City fans didn't envisage it was so Pep could act out his Tony Pulis fantasies and frequently roll out a team with four centre halves.

My idle thought is that for the resources man city have they're underperforming in the PL this season
Perhaps but I think people have got so used to them dominating everyone else. They are evolving with new players and sometimes that takes a little more time than the media and fans want to give them. They have played some really nice stuff in this game and it is finely poised. They are the more composed team but the Geordies have a game plan that is working so far. Next goal is important. Whoever gets it wins.

I think we often undersell just how high the standard in this league is.

Some goal from KdB, sublime stuff.

There we have it... City will win this now. Lovely KDB

Oskar Bobb, take a bow.

Good game, 5 very good goals. I thought 1st half Newcastle deserved to be in front, 2nd half City controlled it completely. Newcastle offered very little.

Great pass by De Bruyne. The change in Man City after he came on was massive, clearly missed him so much.

Deserved win for City, Newcastle just tried to hold on
