Watford denied what looked a clear penalty.

I mean, Lloris clearly punches the ball away, even though he wipes the player out. Only reason I can think they haven't given it

Don’t think Lloris gets any of the ball so it certainly isn’t clear.

Let’s say he does get the ball, there’s been pens given recently for “not getting enough of the Ball” or “follow through”. Coufal against Arsenal springs to mind.

Getting the ball is not an excuse for wiping out a player following through.

Haven't seen the incident but will say that if Lloris gets to the ball first (sounds like he doesn't), then I'd expect him to get away with any other contact that happens afterward. Seems like GKs are usually given the benefit of the doubt in those situations.

There’s a link to it above Alan. He doesn’t get any of the ball.

Pfftt that City penalty is soffttttt. Traore doesn’t not get that, no chance.

Rodri getting booked for taking his shirt off, should have got a second yellow for inciting the crowd. Go and celebrate in front of your own fans you dick. Good job he’s doing it at the Emirates

Of course he does. It goes flying off to the side. The Watford player may have just slightly touched it first but its barely noticeable.

And we all know the rules are different for goalies. If they get a touch on the ball then usually a foul isn't given.

Not sure what you're watching there Bear. Pedro clearly gets the ball first and Lloris takes him out even if he does touch the ball afterwards. You can't go through players to get to the ball, keeper or not.

It's clearly a pen.

I could understand the ref not giving it originally due to the direction the ball took after the collision, can't fathom why he wasn't asked to go and look at it again.

Pedro pokes it towards Lloris who gets a touch on the ball with his gloves. Lloris then takes Pedro out.

I do think Lloris makes contact with Pedro fractionally after Lloris touches the ball though.

I don't know the rules anymore so I don't know if it's a pen

In simple terms I believe the touch on the ball becomes irrelevant if the touch on the player stops him from getting it (assuming he could still have done after the initial touch)

Yep, you just can't take people out.

The amount of pundits that still use the "got the ball first" line though... 🤦🏼‍♂️

To play devils advocate, if a defender slides in to poke the ball away and gets the man on the follow through, I don't think that's a foul.

I'm thinking Bennett Vs Chelsea

That's not a foul, as the contact Bennett got on the ball meant that Willian couldn't have got to it irrespective of the subsequent contact.
