I wouldn’t say we have “no concerns” in midfield tbh. We’re one bad tackle away from being in uncharted waters there.

Ha, obvious caveat that we don't get a single injury in midfield, wingback or keeper as the drop off in quality is mahoosive

Rio Ferdinand/Joe Cole were spot on last night on BT Sport (funnily enough, they were talking about Spurs at the time) when they said whoever puts together the most consistent second half of the season will finish 4th. They were saying that none of Utd, Spurs, Arsenal are consistent enough to pull away from this little mini-league - and you have to say ourselves & West Ham are pretty solid and absolutely deserve to be in the discussion.

The obvious reason we'll miss out is our lack of goals, but we're there on merit and there's definitely an argument that'll score more in the second half of the season with Neto returning. I don't see any reason why we'd suddenly start hemorrhaging goals at the other end of the pitch, so in fairness, I genuinely think we could be on for a top 6 finish. We'll know whether we're serious contenders for European football next season after this month. I'd snap your hand off for European Conference league football next season and anything above that is an added bonus.

I don't mind saying I'd be disappointed if we drifted away and finished between 8th-10th now, given our form, the position we're in now and the fact we have games in hand on teams above us. Credit to Bruno and the team for a cracking first half to the season.

I know I’m being a dick but Ferdinand and Cole haven’t exactly done rocket science in figuring out that the team that wins most consistently will finish highest.

Agree with the rest of what you say, Jinks.

Even if we concede say 5 more goals it will have a massive impact on our points tally unless we score more.

They were just making the point that no one in this little mini-league is consistent enough to pull away. Backed up by Spurs losing, Utd drawing etc.

The trouble is without goals you don’t win whatever the merits of a great defence. We have won games recently by scoring more than one. Even if we dominate teams only scoring one or none leaves us vulnerable. We have found that already in league and cup. I feel that the second half of the season could see plenty of draws as well as one nil either way .

Vitinha hooked on 55 mins against 10 men of Sporting, they're 2-1 down and he's had little impact.

Was a good game first half, both teams played at a high tempo and had a bit of needle to a few challenges. No doubt will become very one sided now as Sporting try to see it out whilst a man down.

Wish I'd seen this game through now to find out what the fuck happened to cause 4 red cards in the 10th minute of stoppage time. 😳

Three reds for Sporting.

You never know, might mean Vinagre gets a game for once.

Pretty decent looking crowd for the Women's Manchester derby.

This won’t happen often as I am not a huge fan of Graeme Souness, but what he just said about Zouma was smack on point and frankly magnificent.

Zouma should be banned for the rest of the season or at least until he shows genuine remorse. They were talking about Zouma's feelings as a reason for him being missing today, and his first barbed response was what about the cat's feelings. He seemed really quite angry about it. Never had him down as an animal lover, but I stand shoulder to shoulder with his comments.
