Live Match Discussion: 2020/21

Dean Smith raised a good point about the penalty last night in that Marty Cash had no time to get out of the way and given the Gibbs incident wasn’t given then he has a right to complain.

Both of course are hand balls and the officials and PGMOL have shown they are unfit for purpose.

Matty cash stopped a goal bound shot playing volleyball? Hands outside silhouette, above his head, stopping goal scoring opportunity. None of which apply to the Gibbs one.

The Gibbs one probably is handball but I can see why it wasn’t given.

Trying to make all these rules and decisions black and white is part of the problem. The game has always needed and will continue to need an element of common sense. There will always be differences in decisions when it is a subjective. Unfortunately we’ve made refs into robots and tried to to create black and white laws for the purpose of VAR which then makes the situation worse.

Don’t agree with that Punts. Rules should be black and white, better explained and easily implemented.

Part of the problem is the ambiguous nature of the rules themselves.

I genuinely have no idea how you can see the Gibbs one is not given. He caught the ball.

That one had a get out clause which was Silva looked at the keeper and then stopped to make it harder for him which as we know you breathe on a keeper its a foul. It was pretty similar to when a forward stops his run knowing the defender will go over the top of them. Whether or not they was taken into consideration when VAR looked at it I don't know but I think if it had been refered back to the ref thats what he would habe gone with

I think it probably should have been handball because of the bizarre nature of it. But I can get over it. I guess I’m fed up of every game being a penalty shoot out. Teams are getting a free shot from 12 yards from nothing incidents.

I agree rules should be easily implemented etc but there still needs to be common sense. If a fullback eases a striker away from a ball he had no chance of getting by giving him a little nudge it’s called good defending, when he does it and stops him getting on the ball it’s a penalty. Similar to “catchable ball” in the NFL on PI. It’s adding that subjective common sense rather than just saying “he shoved him so it doesn’t matter the cross was in the south bank it’s a free shot from 12 yards”.

I'd have thought only onside if a player makes a deliberate attempt to play the ball was if Mings tried to play the ball back to Martinez not knowing the offside player was there, in the same sense Robbie Keane was onside years back because the goalkeeper consciously dropped the ball to feet to play out.

Mings appalling touch was nothing like a deliberate attempt. You might think "got away with one there" when its pulled back but it should've been disallowed imo. PGMOL and Comedy Alli are perverting that law to cover their incompetence.

Must admit last season I did feel there was a conspiracy and went a bit tin hat on it but I've "mellowed" from that to just complete an utter contempt for PGMOL. Even if the useless cunts wanted to conspire for/against certain clubs they're simply too incompetent to deliver it and would probably leave their crayon scrawled orders in the officials changing room.

They've been shunned on the world stage at international tournaments which is as damning indictment as there is (and suggests European officials aren't in on it) as I've said before what fucks me off most of all is junior officials like Coote on VAR and senior officials on the whistle. The senior officials should mop up the juniors fuck ups not hoping the office apprentice might tell the department manager hes wrong.

Well, things are going well for Liverpool right now

We spend so much time worrying about our problems and their causes, forgetting that several other teams are having similar problems. Liverpool can't score, Chelsea losing games, City had a bad patch, Arsenal were atrocious. Maybe the players (and coaches) just need a break.

Klopp out on Twitter! You couldn't make it up.... It's not just our fans that are barking. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

What's with this recent nonsense of letting off fireworks near football grounds?

It’s “we can’t be there but want to let you know we are supporting”. Of course Cheltenham were doing great and that break might result in a City goal before half time. Counter productive bollocks.

Imagine a lower league team making it difficult for a PL team....
