LIVE! Match discussion 2014/15

I don't see why you need Hughes AND Carroll in that team (I rate Hughes higher). Move Pritchard inside and have Lingard wide. Though the squad does lack wide options as it is and Lingard wasn't great in the last game.

Butland's kicking is atrocious. As bad as Matt Murray's was.

I'm not quite sure what England are trying to do, midfield is far too deep and they've not got any real width. With that comes the slow play because there aren't any options in front of the ball to play to. Tactically very poor for me.

Much better in the last couple of minutes and they create 2 chances.

Kane should have put his away really, good block on the Hughes chance. Generally far too laboured, Chalobah a passenger.

I thought Kane was unlucky, just on the stretch a little too far whereas Hughes would have scored had he lifted it. Overall though not good enough and i think that comes from the players not understanding what is expected from them.

Hughes unlucky to be taken off. Carroll and Chalobah were both awful.

Ings . How it was Hughes taken off is beyond me! Best of the three midfielders by a distance

This is awful from England, not sure how Chalobah(been awful and not sure how he's in the side) or Carroll stayed on instead of Hughes. It strikes to me of another English manager being well out of his depth and struggling to find a way for his side to play so far.

You take Hughes off, leave those two on and immediately leave yourself with zero attacking threat from central midfield. Bizarre management.

Chalobah has gone backwards. When he was on loan at Watford when we went down he looked a great player, I wouldn't take him over Price based on what I've seen this season

Chalobah has been beyond awful. Absolute clogger. We're SO negative it hurts. Garbutt has been deployed as a 'wing back' but 95% of his passes have either been backwards or hopeful lofted crosses in to the unchallenged keepers arms. We've got two of the best forwards in the tournament (one of which Southgate didn't deem worthy of starting in a must win game) and our midfield has created nothing for them.

Redmond has pace to burn but has been anonomous - as I say this, Lingaard sticks in a pearler to put us one up. Keeper should have saved it though!

Good strike by Lingard but crap punch and attempt at a save by the keeper. Thoroughly undeserved.

Keeper massively to blame there, first for a poor punch then a weak hand in trying to save it. England lead but they don't deserve it even of Sweden haven't really tried to attack.

We really, really miss Stones at the back. He's seriously good for his age.

I haven't watched any of it to be honest but last week the sports media were talking about England winning it, all reminiscent of 2002 and the senior side.
Still a win will probably see them progress.
