Why would they buy someone who is at best a minor upgrade on what are, in the main, at best rotation players that they probably want to replace anyway?
Clubs of that size won't sign the likes of Shawcross as it is an entirely pointless exercise.
I could see City getting desperate trying to fill their quota of home grown players and signing someone like Shawcross. Although they do have Jason Denayer coming through who is a very good centre back.
They still have FFP to worry about. Ability wouldn't really come into it, he'd never get anywhere near their first team. Moot point though, can't see him leaving Stoke any time soon.
Shawcross better than Demichelis? At points last year I would have agreed with you but he's been more than solid since his horror show in the UCL against... someone. Madrid maybe? The one he gave up a penalty and Dan called him a donkey.
I can accept foreign players just not settling into the English game but lack of talent is another thing. £15m Spurs paid for Paulinho, I wouldn't want him for 15p. Such a nonentity of a footballer. A central midfielder who can't pass or tackle and hides from the ball.
Made me laugh when people were raving about him after the confederations cup, he was gash there as well but scored one volley and everyone went mental about him for some reason.
