Lettuce Liz then Tetchy Rish! and the battle to replace him

At least the triple lock for the blue rinse wankers has been safeguarded.

A Government Minister's (Paul Scully on Question Time) response to a woman who had an offer of a mortgage of 4.5% and yesterday was quoted 10.4% because of products being withdrawn was to say that there are still more mortgages in the market now than there were 10 years ago.
Who advises these clowns to say such things or are they really so dense that they think its a good answer?

Daniel Kawczynski was on Newsnight (yes that is all that they can get out of the barrel) claiming that for 20 years we have been operating a broken model of borrowing more than we take in and that tax cuts for the richest in society are important to balance the books. Apparently a 5% cut in this tax will lead to all successful Brits and others streaming back in the country bringing the revenue to put us on an even keel. Did Phil Collins ever carry out his promise to leave, is he back yet and will the likes of him returning be able to put this plan to fruition? I think not.

I’m more worried about the four million facing a cut in their benefits personally

Divide and conquer.

The fair way for all would be to say we treat all of society as the same, whether that is the 10% or to have an honest conversation saying that this is the increase that the country can afford.

The better of in society pay more in taxes and they still will - Liz Truss BBC North West 29/09/2022

Okaaay.

Imagine a City Banker on £300k a year with a nice fat bonus maxed out at £600k (twice annual salary is the cap). How did he do out of Friday.

Well his income between £12,571 and £50,271 sees a 1p reduction in tax. So that is £375 a year better off there.

His income between £150,000 and £300,000 sees a 5p reduction in tax there. So that is £7,500 better off there.

His entire bonus is taxable income at 40% rather than 45% so that is £30,000 better off there.

And of course his bonus can now be greater than £600,000. He is effectively 60p in the £ better off for every £ his now uncapped bonus rises.

Total annual savings £37,875.

Meanwhile I’m using food banks

I don't want to stick up for said banker but I think the personal allowance is removed for those earning over 125k

I’m sure his increased bonus will cover that. His extra savings is not far off the TOTAL yearly benefit payout to 10 people on universal credit.

Well he was losing it before and still is now. So he is still miles fucking better off. Meanwhile I’m expected to make £330 a month stretch even fucking further.

Not against condemning the government for their appalling attitude towards the poorer sections of society but it fizzes my piss when people have a go at some of our poorest people versus other poor people.
There also seems to be a general belief that all pensioners are rich, I can tell you that they're not.
Probably there is a case for means testing state pensions but that would be highly controversial.

Same old same old for the tories - turn us against each other while ensuring the rich get richer and privilege remains with them and their cronies. Baffles me how anyone who's not rich could have ever voted for them.

Edit - it actually baffles me that even the rich would vote for them, its totally shortsighted and inherently selfish.

Divide and conquer.

This is what the free market looks like.

Andrew Griffith was on the BBC this morning and the utter scumbag was put in his placed by Naga who couldn't hide her contempt for him as he tried to blame Putin for the run on the pound.

He came across as the scumbag he is.

Maybe i'm just a bit naive but the free market doesn't have to be like this - true sustainable growth can come from long term planning and investment in infrasturcture plus upskilling of the workforce. If you're not a disaster capitalist then you would imagine that is preferable.

They're not interested in people only money and only their own money.

It's free market economy without consideration.

They know they've lost the next election so this is scorched earth stuff.

I just find it odd - if you're a truss or a kwarteng you could make much more money by not getting into politics. The only reason for getting into politics, if you're not from a wealthy background, is that you are either a meglomaniac or you actually think you can improve things - I think they are the latter but totally lack any contect or experience to realise their ideas are totally stupid.
