Lettuce Liz then Tetchy Rish! and the battle to replace him

Enough is enough says James (not so) Cleverley regarding abuses (well legal ways of entering the country!) to our immigration policy.

Who created the current rules on oversea's workers, student visa's etc etc. The brass neck of them is ridiculous.

if he has had enough, perhaps he can be open and honest about how much the govt is spending on ensuring the rwanda option can continue, as they have decided not to share information about additional spending til late next summer.

Government defeated on a contaminated blood scandal vote in the commons. Victims should finally be compensated.

Ah - but the government wants to pay compensation, didn’t you hear? They simply want to wait until the full enquiry report is out in late Spring and then to consider it for a few months. Maybe February 2025 something would have been set up.

Also the way constitutional law works it doesn’t matter how many treaties with slightly different wording are signed with Rwanda, it doesn’t matter how much “emergency legislation” is passed asserting the government opinion that Rwanda is safe, if the courts rule that there is still a risk of refoulement the. The scheme is still dead. So to be honest the best tactic is to delay the passage of the legislation and then tie up a case in the Supreme Court testing the new legislation until after the election. Job done.

Hmmm

So the new treaty contains a new appeal body comprised asylum experts from neutral countries to deal with, well, appeals. Which sort of should only be necessary if Rwanda was proposing refoulement in inidividual cases.

And monitoring of Rwandan asylum policy will be significantly “beefed up”. If you assert the country is safe, may I ask why this is necessary?

They have already said on multiple occasions they will scrap it the moment they win the election

Yes they will "replace" it. With a proper immigration plan.

The ERG star chamber of crack legal experts (well Bill Cash and a couple of others from the lunatic fringe of the party) will mull over the Rwanda legislation and the group will only back it it…
“fully respects the sovereignty of parliament, with unambiguous wording”.
Abiding by international law isn’t a worry for them then.
