Landmark Klaxon!

Planning permission has been put in for Beatties, company is going to keep retail on the ground floor, put a minor extension in and convert the rest in 300 (yea 300 you read that right) apartments

Presumably very small flats then

City Centre Apartments are never big anyway and the Beatties Building is friggin huge

If there's an apartment there that incorporates the grand staircase with a crapper at the top, I'm putting an offer in.

Not had one of these for a while. Used to love the Little Civic.

Perhaps if he hadn't vandalised the front elevation with that atrocious paint job then it may have been more attractive to a purchaser.

Sad really, I've many happy memories of the place, not least my last drink as a free man before popping next door to the Church to get married.

Live round the corner from there! Only went in there once, think I only realised it was closed after the first lockdown when It didn’t appear to reopen…

Lidl planning to build on the old Strykers site (that bridge advert for Strykers/Sega World on the Stafford Road is going to be there forever, probably confused Adama when he signed for us)

Man that Strykers place brings back some memories of my late teens and early twenties when I used to work right opposite. Our company organised us all free memberships, we had the work piss-ups in there (the only time I've ever seen anyone forget to let go of the bowling ball and end up halfway down the lane) and some epic games of pool. The bridge will be a forever reminder.

Few years earlier I used to love how often MTV played CC Music Factory's 'Things That Make You Go Hmmmm' on the unused lane screens as I'd watch the woman dancing with my tongue hanging out. God bless you Strykers.

That one as well. The bus dates it back to at least 1991, still there now!

The one on the Cannock Road is ancient too...
