Keir Starmer at it again..

I'm pretty sure the farming climbdown is around the corner too now that the supermarkets have hypocritically of a sudden become pro farmer after decades of running then into the ground.

It's winding me the fuck up. If they cared about farmers then they'd pay more than fuck all for the essentials

In some ways I feel sorry for Labour, they really were given a hospital pass by the last Government. My sympathy is short lived however by the fact that they are fucking incompetent.

They are making it very hard for me to continue as a paying member of the Labour Party, they just seem to be looking after the better off and forgetting their core support.
I re-joined before the election because, despite my grave misgivings, I actually wanted them to succeed. Having had to live through all versions of Conservative governments since 2010 I honestly believed that they could not be any worse. They kicked off with a bit of sleaze, followed it up by a bit of a kicking to the vulnerable (WFA) and then had a pop at working people indirectly through employers because they wanted to keep their "no tax rises" promise. Add the hypocritical rejection of WASPI compensation and the failure to put across any form of hopeful vision for the future that doesn't involve a handful of soundbites...they look and sound a lot like the last ineffective government despite having 14 years to prepare for Government.

The truly appalling thing is that people/critics still call them left wing? That is an insult.

I left again.

Oh yeah, plenty of hate online against Starmer and co, and it's all referring to them as basically soft lefties.

And they'll no doubt alienate the remaining Labour voters on the left and centre left too as time goes on.

I think they're fucked at the next election, and I worry predictions of Farage 2029 aren't are far-fetched as we might like

Might not be Farage - I wouldn’t rule out Boris. We’ve seen in America being a lying, scheming piece of shit can be overlooked by a majority of the electorate who actually vote.

Won’t be farage, won’t be boris, neither of them would want the scrutiny that comes with the job, both of them are happier shouting from the sidelines causing problems rather than being at the front solving them, not enough money in being PM for either of them, because that’s what they’re really interested in and of course doing what’s best for boris and Nigel

I know this won't go down well on here, but I genuinely feel sorry for Starmer. I feel his heart is in the right place, but the last government made such a mess of the country, that it will take longer than most people are willing to wait to put things right.

This is fair enough in part but he's had years to plan what he will do and he's started of by alienating his core supporters.
Now a lot of this is inflated by the right wing media but he should have seen that coming.
While I agree with limiting the free cash to some pensioners, the trigger point is way too low. Doesn't help when he then announces he's changing the non dom rules to help out the wealthiest.
He has to do better both in deed and in presentation.
Luckily they're only at the start so have time to put things right. They have to start getting some goals soon and stop dropping clangers ( yes that's a Wolves analogy)

Starmer has made some terrible decisions but he was stuffed from the start. He was never going to be left enough for many and was only ever graced with the centre Tory vote on the basis he was seen as relatively safe while the Tories themselves were by any measure unforgivably bad. A sort of lose-lose so to speak.

Problem he and the Left worldwide in general have is the right have tied them up in knots on issues such as gender ideology, immigration and subsequent (lack of) security issues etc etc. Nuanced debates are lost and the immense amount of imagery available seemingly giving credence to those arguments is very powerful and overwhelming to any attempts at perspective. However despicable it is anyone would seek to gain an advantage from the terrible events of Southport, it’s affirmation or devastatingly undermining depending on your point of view.

Difficult to know where to go when attempts to shut down misinformation are presented as dangerous attempts to shut down free speech, or more precisely, stop ‘you’ seeing what ‘they’ don’t want you to see. I think it’s clear Starmer and Co are extremely concerned about further civil unrest and struggling to keep control, and there is some mileage around information that is being withheld because of that. Musk must be rubbing his hands when he’s positioned Starmer between a rock and a hard place with unregulated chaos playing straight into his hands and the only alternative being presented as the Left wanting to control the narrative and inadvertently turning us into a version of communist China.

Pretty clear the right here are bouyed by the events in America right now, and aside of Musk’s dark side manifesting itself in some sort of Trump/Musk implosion I’m not sure where any positives lie at all.

I am not convinced the "right" have tied the "left" in knots on any issues. What they have done is reduced politics to not having any detail or complexity, or nuance.
People are so busy nowadays just trying to survive, that they generally don't have the time or energy to engage with the detail. Motivation is also often a factor.
This has resulted in soundbite politics.

Add to this the fact every issue is supposed to be binary (pun intended!) and it's always you're either with us or against us, means much debate becomes toxic, personal or abusive.
