Just how good were/was/is/are (Wolves Edition)

Strikes me as a player that has the game at his feet if he's got the right attitude. He's prodigiously talented.

Walter White shouldn't have bothered with the laundrette.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it's what we signed up for and it's serving us brilliantly. But if any of the people that are tricking themselves into thinking there's footballing merit in this could drop me a message please, I've got a cracking investment opportunity for you to get involved in

Classic :icon_lol:

He's come a long way from being derided as one of the "Mendes Twins", hasn't he? Who would have thought that there would be times when folk would have picked him over Jota this season.

I'm quite excited for Jordao too - he's not exactly going to get past Neves and Moutinho for a place in central midfield, but if he's bright enough to be paying attention to everything Joao does, then he's got a good chance of breaking through too I would have thought.

Jordao's a good player. Definitely not just a basic sitting DM, he can carry the ball.

Maybe he won't make it here but he'll have a future somewhere half-decent.

I thought Jordao and Neto were favours to Mendes so hands up on that one.

Neto had been so close to making a stunning debut season with an offside goal at Liverpool and smashing the bar from 30 yards against someone else. He's in the Jota mould of terrier lack tenacity and I think he'll go far.

IIRC there was talk of Neto legitimately starting over Jota at some point

I'm sorry, did I just read someone saying that Pedro Neto lacks raw pace? :Icon_lol:

If it wasn't for Traoré he might be the fastest player in the team! I'd be a bloody good race between him, Vinagre and Podence. All 3 are like shit off a shovel.

I still think we signiifcantly overpaid for players who had played next to zero games professionally. There is still no way that fee can be justified based on their body of work prior to joining. It was a Mendes favour or at least a known over payment

I see Neto appearing to work out and on the way to being worth the amount we paid and potentially more as a separate point.

I dunno mate. Ronaldo cost United £12m+ in 2003, God knows what that is now adjusted for inflation. He was 18 and he'd played 25 games. He was directly replacing Beckham who was one of the best players in the world. That looked a bit weird at the time. Turned out ok though.

If you see talent, you go out and pay for it. He's effectively replaced both Cav and Costa and we're in profit overall? And he's better than both of them.

Also Lazio had already committed to paying a massive sum for the pair, they were always going to want the bulk of that back.

Late to the party, but George Ndah! Loved him. Really good footballer imo, and the Murray comparison is apt.
The FA Cup game versus newcastle will always be in my mind.

On Neto, his development has been akin to Adama's, which goes to show the benefit of effective coaching. Genuinely has the ability to come on and change a game as things stand. If he continues to develop in the same way over the next 2 years he could be pivotal in the places where we are looking to be. His shooting from range could be a massive asset, and he's very good with either foot.

Was gutted for Neto when his goal against Liverpool got chalked off. Not only because it was his first in a Wolves shirt, but because it doused one of the finest celebrations I've seen in a long long time :icon_lol:

On Neto and I do rate him highly but I think I will still be sat amazed at his miss v Espanyol (just a few games ago in February). The perfect finish to a trio of dreadful football moments

Liked Neto right from the start, think he came on in one of the early EL games and looked excellent. Had a few ups and downs early on as you'd expect with a youngster and only getting minimal gametime. Couldn't believe some of the flack he got, he looks to have a lot of attributes imo

Pretty much matchday shite tbh and you know what I think of that.

Don't remember many verdicts slagging him off.

He did go through a very short period, literally a couple of games, in the late Autumn where he was showboating a bit. It soon stopped

We brought him on at Palace and he played sort of CM. Yeah, we won't do that again.

Which game did we have him at 10? Thought he looked really good there.

Southampton away in the second half he played there.

We've played him up front too in some early Europa games.
