Say what you like but Momentum are a vile stain on the Labour Party, sooner it splits the better.

Broad, sweeping statements don't really add much value to the debate. I know many people in Momentum and I don't recognise your description of them. Momentum have energised my son to get involved in politics and I certainly wouldn't want you to describe him as a vile stain just as I wouldn't expect him to describe you in a similar way for holding a different point of view.

Some people display behaviour that is unacceptable and that should be condemned - and that behaviours is displayed by both sides of the debate.

Momentum is a populist movement, akin to what the Labour Party was. Any populist movement will attract some of questionable values and attitudes but don't tar everyone with the same brush.

Obviously I wouldn't tar your son with that brush but there's no doubt that the abuse for those who would like to see a centist Labour Party is coming from within Momentum.

But you did. You did exactly that. No better than the abuse you talk about. I condemn all those who, in or out of Momentum, who use this situation as an excuse to demean or abuse people.

Apologies if anyone has been offended but it's no different from what so called 'Blairites' have to endure every day. I'll not comment further.

Well, as a neutral in this particular spat, then my view is that the Blairite wing sort of has to accept that the enormous majority of core Labour support is not with them. Any split should actually be them away from labour rather than wanting Momentum to move away.

Labour now confirms that a leadership contest has been triggered

Yup, quote by Trickett:

Yes, that's a good idea, hold a GE in the middle of the biggest constitutional crises the Labour party has seen since 1981.

If Corbyn beats off the leadership challenge, then he needs to kick ass and withdraw the whip from those in the PLP who have challenged him. He should then invite their constituency party to ask the incumbent if they are going to support the party leader, and if not, hold a selection contest for their seat.

If Corbyn doesn't beat off the challenge and he is named on the ballot form, then fair play.

However, I won't hold my breath on there being fair play, although the NEC who will decide this, covers a wide range of people.
