She was the stalking horse to try and get Corbyn to resign so that other candidates could step in. There is no point to a leadership contest if Corbyn is on the ballot paper. The PLP know this, the wider party membership knows this, the rest of the country knows this.

Not yet they haven't.

If the NEC of the Labour party decide at this afternoon's emergency meeting, that Corbyn, as the leader, can't be automatically included on the ballot paper, then you will see Owen Smith challenge Eagles for the leadership to try and ensure that Corbyn can't get 51 names too.
I feel it's unlikely that the NEC will not support the leader, so then it will be a straight ballot between whoever stands, and it's likely Corbyn will win again. If that happens, then as I said earlier, he needs to kick ass and get rid of most of the rebel Labour MPs.
