Jeremy Corbyn

I think the smug Blairites are going to get a major shock if they try to oust him and he stands for re-election. The rank and file Labour Party Membership may just vote in larger numbers than last time to keep him in place.

The whole idea of an opposition party is to have different ideas and aims to that of the Governing Party, to represent the large number of the people in the Country that didn't vote for the Government. The Labour Party/remains of New Labour are just a watered down version of the Conservative party in power and this is NOT a good thing.
Depends on whether any of those aims include ever getting into Government. Under Corbyn I don't feel that will ever happen. The Country needs a strong opposition now more than ever. If the rank and file do vote him in again then those that aren't supportive should form their own Party rather than not support him as their views clearly don't reflect those of the Party membership.

My point exactly. I don't think (know) that the PLP ever wanted someone like Corbyn as their leader and the majority had no real intention of backing him. They are just so far removed from the wishes of the rank and file members. Maybe they need to form their own Party and allow the Labour Party to go back to what and who they should represent

Agree with this, the electorate don't want extremism whether it's the right or the left, the irony being those labour supporting brexiters are gonna end up with a new cabinet much further to the right than the last one.

If for some bizarre reason Corbyn changes his mind and stands down sparking a leadership contest, would he need the support of so many members of the PLP to become a candidate in the new contest? He struggled to get to the required amount last time.

No. As leader he has the right to put his name forward.

Corbyn represents traditional Labour values which is why he was massively voted in as leader.

The Labour Party (is not the Labour Party) it is has more in common with the Conservatives.

If the problem is Corbyn's style why will they all gun for another 'Blairite' ???

Pathetic.

I think there could be one of 2 outcomes:
Corbyn wins again, yet with a reduced majority;
or;
He gets an even bigger majority

I don't see a realistically viable candidate to stand against him tbh.

Dan Jarvis would have serious electoral appeal if he ever became Leader.

I think Dan Jarvis has said it is too early for him.
I agree with you though.

Harperson blaming the racists for the OUT vote.

The insinuation that racists will run amok now we've left the EU.

Equally as divisive as some of the crap Farage came out with.

Well there has been some pretty damning stuff flying about. Admittedly only a small number of incidents but they have occurred.

Do you think he'd win another leadership race TSB?

Yes unless an alternative stood against him from the left of the party. His closet rival last year ws Andy Burnham who has declared hi interest in the mayor of Greater Manchester position. Nobody from the right of the party stands a chance at the moment, there is no way a left candidate is going to lose that much support in just 12 months and as this would be viewed as a parliamentary party based coup I think a leadership contest would turn bitter quickly and split the party.

Breaking news.

Jeremy Corbyn loses confidence vote of Labour MPs by 176 votes to 44.
