Jeremy Corbyn

I can only speak for my local medical centre but if you're prepared to see any Doctor and it's an emergency you'll more often than not be seen the same day.
There is also the Phoenix drop in centre in Parkfields where you can go anytime as long as you're prepared to wait.

Got to admit you can usually get in our doctor's on the same day even though there are only two GPs there.

Yeah same or next day at mine too.

For non urgent stuff have never had to wait more than a couple of days as long as I don't mind which Doctor I see.

Haven't had any urgent need fortunately, but know from friends that they have always been fitted in the same day though sometimes have to go to the other surgery in the group at the other end of town. They seem to move staff between the 2 surgeries to cover as well

There was a status in Facebook the other day where the person was saying how good Penkridge doctors was because she couldn't get an appointment and was diagnosed over the phone and prescription was waiting for her at the reception. If this is now classed as a good service, God knows what a bad one is.

Fortunately, I don't have reason to use my GP, but I'm informed that it is usually a week's notice required for an appointment at my practise.

I do wish the media would stop giving former shadow cabinet ministers - especially those that refused to serve under Corbyn - airtime.

How and why does their opinion matter?

I can see a my GP in Spain the same day. If the surgery is closed, I can use a 24 hour health centre on my estate. There are 5, 24 hour walk in health centres on different estates in Cordoba.
I needed to see a consultant several years ago, for my sinuses. I went to see my doctor in the morning, he gave me a consultant appointment, the same afternoon. I would of had to wait at least 6 months in the UK, to see a specialist.

Total rubbish, if you're going to spout crap at least try to make it believable.

More opportunity to train in the NHS.

it would be better to train sufficient staff in this country. Plenty of people wish to become nurses – this is amply demonstrated by the 54,000 British applicants competing for fewer than 23,000 university places each year. Training of doctors and nurses is funded by Health Education England from an annual budget of £5 billion.

As it is, this might not be enough – but there are fears that the budget will be cut in the wake of the recent comprehensive spending review. If this means that even fewer people are being trained than necessary, the NHS will become increasingly reliant on agency staff in the years to come. In the greater scheme of things, the agency price cap is merely a sticking plaster, not a cure for financial deficits.

Agency staff is one of the areas I'm disappointed hasn't been tackled yet. They should set a cap by grade on how much can be paid.

Actually, some areas LOVE agency staff. The college I used to work at wanted to increase the amount of agency staff. They felt they had too many permanent staff. This creates problems - you need a HR dept, payroll, & the selfish feckers get annual leave and standard of living increases etc, so to curb these costs, the brilliant idea was cut permanent staff, pay them off, and replace with agency staff.

& lets get real, this will increase in the public sector, as cameron is cutting resources, but maintaining and even increasing some statutory duties. Given councils etc have to fulfil these functions, means that by default camerons cost cutting will increase the total cost.

It's all about costs and budgets. For me, in terms of NHS, care for the elderly, pensions and education you should set the standard and then meet the requirements. This should always come first. How you structure Society around that is the complicated bit.

Let's not forget that agencies are private businesses, often run by very rich people making millions from the NHS. But I'm sure none of them are Tory donors with the ear of a minister or two.

Rude, arrogant and wrong, Johnny.

I stated it was several years ago. Quite often people wait over 3 months now and 6 months is not unheard of. The waiting times are very regional.
My Doctor at the time told me 6 months. There are thousands of links I could put up to demonstrate my point, but I don't need to.

Maybe your doctor thought: 'What an arse coming all the way from Spain to get treated, these ex-pats are taking the piss, fuck him, I'll tell him 6 months. It'll allow me to treat others that really need it and are living here'.

Of course he may not think like that but, well, you know....

Most NHS trusts HAVE to use bank staff. It is a fact of life within the NHS. They are expected to run on absolutely minimal staff levels (the patients / nurses ratio on wards is absolutely fucking terrifying) and so as soon as you get sickness or holiday, bank staff have to be used otherwise patient care is compromised.

That's better Johnny. True intentions out in the open.
