Anyway, politics is too polarised. The Tories only subscribe to discredited austerity garbage, whereas there are too many elements (not all of them) of Labour's economic policy that are unpalatable to many.

"Centrist" should not be a dirty word. I wouldn't necessarily describe myself as one, but I know plenty of perfectly well-adjusted, politically engaged people who would fit that label.
