Jeremy Corbyn

Select Committee inquiry into anti-semitism concluded that "...there exists no reliable, empirical evidence to support the notion that there is a higher prevalence of antisemitic attitudes within the Labour Party than any other political party."

Don't let the facts get in the way of giving JC a good beating!

I guess the evidence above isn't enough for you two.

I find your attitudes disgust me. No better than far right racists.

Johnny might go a bit far at times, but go and have a look at the responses under any twitter post from the 8 and tell me there aren't anti-semites in the labour party. Its sickening and appalling to see a once great party stoop to being a collection of cranks, conspiracy theorists and closed-minded bigots.

If you keep saying a thing, isn't a thing for long enough, then maybe it won't be a thing anymore?

Head in sand.

There is anti-semitism in the Labour Party, TPs quote from the select committee doesn’t say otherwise. The point that is being made is that there is no evidence that it is more prevalent in the Labour Party than elsewhere. There are also cranks, conspiracy theorists and closed minded bigots in the Labour Party just as there are in other parties and in all parts of society.

What has happened in recent years is that people can’t even challenge the narrative without being jumped on as some anti-Semite apologist.

BREAKING: Labour responds to the resignation from the party of 8 backbenchers by calling for new rules allowing constituents to force by-elections by recalling MPs who quit their parties.

Replying to @Fleeper

Has Corbyn done enough to get rid of them from the party? Not in my eyes.

Also (and I am someone who voted for Corbyn), saying 'the Tories and other parties have issues too' is not only whataboutery but an extremely low bar too.

It's hypocritical to criticise, what is IMO a horribly racist, party like the Conservatives and then react like that when there are issues that are clearly prevalent within your own.

They need to be above that but they aren't, sadly.

If they were to stand in my constituency and their representative came from a credible background then I'd vote for the Independent Party over Williamson the alleged anti Semite

This independent group could have some rea;l clout. Its not the SDP lite but it is a central party and its there for those who have become politically homeless as regards the big three. Heidi Allen is my MP and she is great for a tory. If she does jump ship I will happily vote for her at the next election even though she is 100% a remainer.

I will never, ever vote for the Conservatives.

I'm completely stuck - if there was a GE tomorrow, FPTP means my vote would be wasted. The only reason I voted Labour last time was that I was more than happy to give my support to the candidate in a constituency that had an outside chance of being lost by the Tories but things have been soured so much over the past 18 months or so that I don't know if even that would be enough.

The thing is , ridiculous as it sounds, when you get down to the brass tacks the vast majority are around the centre. Most people are moderates with concerns over ( NO PARTICULAR ORDER)
1. Climate change, environmental issues, recycling
2. Taxation
3. Homelessness, jobs, workers rights
4. NHS
5. Crime and Punishment
6. Human rights and humanitarian issues
7. Animal rights and welfare
8. Elderly care and pensions
9. Brexit

So to me a new party trying to hit a central stance on those areas would stand a hell of a chance given the absolute state of the current government and a non-opposing opposition.

And I would agree with you but tredman inferred that TP and others were denying that there was anti-semitism in the party which is not the case. There are, however, shades of grey and reasonable people should be able to condemn anti-semitism and question the narrative that it is a uniquely Labour issue or that there are some that have politically weaponised the issue.

You think tweets made by Ruth George are being weaponised by others?

Don’t invent stuff and attribute it to me, it lessens the value of your contribution. I think it is reasonable to put the argument that some have used the issue for political purposes. That doesn’t mean everyone or every incident.

Derek Hatton suspended by the Labour Party 2 days after his re-admission. You can't make this shit up.

This.

There also seems to be a mix up between actual party members being anti-semitic and random people on Twitter hurling ant-semitic abuse at people. Corbyn is not responsible for racists on the internet.
