Jeremy Corbyn

I don't think Smith's opinion is listened to. This current version of the Labour Party is as close to a cult as I've ever seen. A far left Stalinist party I hope never gets a sniff of government. There's a nasty, almost Bolshevik, element to it that is no different to Reece Mogg and his abhorrent views.
Still better than the alternative though.

Collective responsibility is all well and good, but he was the Shadow NI Secretary, so was speaking from his SC position as much as he was his personal view.

Well me too, but that will not do anything. The choice is more of the tories or Corbyn sadly.

I choose to vote for neither and that will continue it seems.

There are elements of Corbyn I like (as opposed to zero elements of the Tories that I like, apart from Ken Clarke who is 117 now) but I can't vote for him/them.

Far left Stalinist. Jesus Christ.

His Shadow Cabinet position should be Labour policy so he was only providing his personal view. He knew the two were incompatible when he did it, he’s not some naive newbie...

Looking at all the options its still a clusterfuck! My fear is that history shows that out of chaos extremism prospers.

You genuinely couldn't make this up:
Julie Lenarz on Twitter said:
Apparently Jeremy Corbyn's office is lining up Claudia Webbe to replace Christine Shawcroft as head of Labour's Dispute Panel, a woman who worked for Ken "Hitler was a Zionist" Livingstone and defended him when he compared a Jewish journalist to a concentration camp guard.

Ah, I see, you're one of them.

I could well be.

Just filling time on a boring afternoon. Anyway, as you were - I'm sure it's worthy of more serious consideration than I'm giving it.

I don't understand why socialists are refusing to acknowledge the decent into a cult that is happening to the Labour Party. Seems odd to me, especially as some are very quick to point out how nasty the Tory party has got.

Seems like a double standard to me.

I think its pretty clear to most people that Labour has descended into a personality cult. Obviously those that are in it dont see it that way.

That's what populism is and Corbyn, Farage, Trump and many others across Europe are only gaining traction due to the failure of traditional politics in recent years. Personally I think we're in a transition period for our democracy, not sure where its heading though. The Labour Party is an odd mix of social democratic policies and an avowed socialist leadership. It would be interesting to see if someone other than Corbyn would be able to push the current Labour policies as successfully.
