Jeremy Corbyn

Good week for Jezza - good policies announced.

Free school meals, £10 minimum wage and some good stuff for small businesses. Also looking to appeal to pensioners which is politically smart although the pricks always vote Tory anyway despite the fact Labour has done more for them than anyone.

I'm not totally convinced 'economically' and I'm not an advocate of 'identity politics' but he is breath of fresh air. I like him for the fact he is extremely strong in his convictions despite the way he is spun. He genuinely comes across as a nice guy who cares. I think the Labour Party may have a future if those that represent match the ideal. Perhaps, a redefined left ..

Momentum just do not like democracy:

Gerard Coyne - the man challenging Len McCluskey for the leadership of Unite - has been suspended from his job as a regional official with the union.
The move comes as counting is about to get under way in the union's leadership ballot.
Mr Coyne, who is seen as the anti-Jeremy Corbyn candidate, has been suspended as West Midlands regional secretary pending an investigation.

Well, not officially anyway...

Announcing what he implies is a done deal with McCluskey, Lansman tells the audience: “Assuming that Len McCluskey wins the general secretaryship, which I think he will, Unite will affiliate to Momentum and will fully participate in Momentum, as will the CWU [the Communications Workers’ Union].

And as we know, when a politicians claims support for his organisation then we know its true, right?

Since Jeremy Corbyn became leader of the party, Labour has pledged to raise corporation tax to fund:

■ British Steel
■ the reintroduction of student maintenance grants
■ the scrapping of university tuition fees
■ the schools budget
■ social care

And now the NHS.

Good, lets hope he raises it a shit load then.

While the conservatives have pledged to fuck the lot of us and make us pay for the "pleasure"

Just CT? I thought VAT on private school fees and increasing the top tax rate was part of the funding for some of these as well

Good, lets hope he raises it a $#@! load then.

Can we renationalise everything too please. I've always wanted a really fucked up set of public services for everybody to love. Oh how I've missed the luxurious coaches on British Rail trains, unions running all the public services by proxy and school meals designed by some of the worst procurement and home economics advisers ever.

Not to mention all of those public servant jobs that will be created for people with the charisma and customer service ability of a an average doctors receptionist convention.

All paid for by......oh there may be an issue there.

And before anybody starts with Conservatives whataboutery I wouldn't vote for those racist fucks either.

Happy to re-nationalise some industries sure. Also happy for corporations earning above a certain threshold to pay a shit load (or just some) tax.

The answer to that is employing the right people at the 'coal face' - came out of education 15 months ago, but we ran a bloody brilliant meals service at a very reasonable cost. Then again I had 30+ yrs of commercial experience to buy in the right stuff with good local deals and had cooks who could actually cook (rather than just reheat) working for me. It wasn't rocket science.

Not saying that it works in all scenarios though

Which ones, how and why? I agree with you on making those that can to pay tax, I'm just not convinced this lot of crooks in power will even attempt it.

PLF - I'm sure you were great but from my memory and my mothers current employer the school meals are a disgrace. To me this is more about educating parents to feed their children correctly or provide funds for them to eat correctly, it shouldn't be a responsibility of the state. Our kids should not be going down to the local chip shop or stocking up on energy drinks as a form of sustenance.

As I was a Business Manager in mainly rural primary schools then the pupils were a captive audience & weren't allowed out (& in the last position I was in there was nowhere for them to go anyway)

Though would agree about parental responsibility, free meals for all is a good political soundbite, but diverts funds away from where it could be used more usefully. Those parents who struggled to feed their children could always obtain free school meals & apart from myself, my office staff & the Head no one else would know that they were receiving that.

Boris Johnson has called JC a 'mutton headed old mugwump'

It seems the Tories dont wish to promote past and future policy during this General Election and are going for smear and character assassination. Pity that, the country suffers if the issues are not debated.
