Jeremy Corbyn

I've never known anyone so unwavering in their support for a party while being so unable to offer any defence for their actions.

Surely people on here realise that the 'true Tory' is all for cuts, lower taxes for the rich, less benefits, etc.

Their argument will always be why should they pay more to help others.

It's certainly not what the majority, if not all of this forum thinks, but it certainly how some feel, a totally different perspective, but a valid one. I'm sure there will be a forum somewhere where everyone rounds and continual questions an opposite view to theirs.

The Kinnocks pensions are closer to £200,000 a year, which I do not object to. What is sad is that this left wing forum constantly criticises every financial dealings of Conservatives.

And don't tell me to behave.

I will refrain from telling you to behave just as soon as you can.

Almost certainly. Anyway, let's look at my week ban, which was for losing it against a thrice banned poster back her under a fake ID, who then was such a charmer he had to be removed from facebook for making physical threats.

I think I was well within my rights, and I stand by it, even though I served my time.

It's a difficult one, fundamentally I agree with the notion that electorally Corbyn is taking the party backwards and the triangle of Blair, Mandelson and Campbell was all about electoral victory which they were pretty bloody good at.

That said he has a clear mandate and if there was another election tomorrow he'd win again, if you are a Labour Party Peer and you can't support the current Labour Party then resign your whip and sit as an independent or keep your counsel and wait until he implodes.

Yes, agreed.

I would also say that if you have a problem then stand up publicly and point out when Corbyn has made an error in your eyes, or the wrong direction is being taken. Get the debate out there. Being a snake bastard sending catty emails just marks you out as a prick.

Mind you, leopards and spots and all that where he's concerned.

I know the weather today will play it's part but turnout in Stoke expected to be around 30%

So Labour folk. Hoping for 2 wins for JC or defeats that might make him consider his position as leader?

Keep UKIP and Nuttall out is my only concern with either of them really.

Stoke on Trent Central, result:
LAB: 37.1% (-2.2)
UKIP: 24.7% (+2.1)
CON: 24.3% (+1.8)
LDEM: 9.8% (+5.7)
GRN: 1.4% (-2.2)

Copeland, result:
CON: 44.3% (+8.5)
LAB: 37.3% (-4.9)
LDEM: 7.2% (+3.8)
UKIP: 6.5% (-9.0)
IND: 2.6% (+2.6)
GRN: 1.7% (-1.3)

Turnout in Stoke was 37%, after its previous lowest of 49% in 2015 says to me that people don't want to vote Labour rather than they do want to vote UKIP or at least Nuttall.

Tells me they dont want to vote. Sick of the duplicitous shenanigans from all parties and cannot be bothered with it as they dont know who to believe or why. Bloody shambles all round. We really do need a leader of Churchillian or similar standing.

It was a bad night for UKIP. I think Nuttall really expected to win that seat but managed to shoot himself in the foot spectacularly. The only Labour win was a case of hanging on, and losing Copeland is a real smack in the face for Jeremy Corbyn.

It looks like apathy kicking in with those turnout figures. Plenty are voting none of the above.

There is no denying that Copeland is a great result for the Conservatives, and a poor one for labour. With a competent shadow cabinet I would be reasonably confident that the two positions could have been reversed.

If Nuttall can't win in what is one of the Brexit hotspots in the entire country when Labour are in disarray and have parachuted in a pretty poor candidate then it's hard to see where he can win.

As I said last night that is all I wanted really, I have no investment in Labour at present so them losing Copeland just underlines the mess they're in.
