Yeah he's a DM.

It's quite an intriguing one. This transfer seems to have gone completely under the radar but he seems to actually be very highly rated.

I'd never heard of him either but a friend of mine who supports RC Lens and watches a lot of French football rates him higher than Aurélien Tchouaméni (similar age/position from the same league) who has been linked to €25M+ moves in the last 2 windows.

Vinagre was signed on loan for the U23's initially (that period lasted about 4 days mind as he imprseed Nuno straight away)

If he plays CM, then he will play in the under 23's. He's very unlikely to displace the 2 starters and then you have the option of MGW and then one of Dendoncker and Saiss when Boly slots back into the back 3.

There's some very brief clips on the youtubes which certainly make him seem like a DM/deep lying playmaker. Seems predominantly a leftie but can use either foot. Long term replacement for Saiss, maybe?

There's very vague similarities with Neves tbh...young talent breaks into the first team, loses place and starts to stagnate, moves away to get game time. Not the same, obviously, but if he comes anywhere near being as big a success as Ruben then this'll work out just grand.

More that Saiss is now permanently a member of the back three I would say, he's been exceptional there this season and I wouldn't be moving him.

To an extent I'd agree but I think I'd still rather Boly + new CB, tbh (perhaps I'm being greedy). Which would then mean Saiss reverting to principle backup in CM.

Think he's still a little too rash and keen on diving in, personally (though he has curbed that a bit recently) to be CB long-term

When Boly is fully back then Dendocker will be the one to move forward as midfield cover as Saiss has performed better - needs Boly to move across to the right hand side, but suspect that that is not any real problem for him. Young Max is the left side cover & Donk (or Bennett - though suspect that his time here will finish at the end of the season) cover the right hand side.

MGW is not a defensive midfielder even if the Donk can be - having another body available (even if he also plays in the U23's) will not hurt & as said Vinagre hasn't really often played at that level since he came here.

The amount of fans moaning that its 'only' a signing for the U23s is doing my head in. The replies to Tim Spiers' tweet are atrocious. Some saying its pointless, others that if he was any good he'd be straight in the first team, others saying he's shit because they've never heard of him etc etc.

Some of our fans are fucking morons. Some prick even commented on the lack of signings in a reply to the clubs tweet about Holocaust memorial day FFS. I really hate transfer windows.

Can't understand that - we (without ANY additions) could/should have beaten this years league champions (and they will be) a few days ago - there is no point bringing in players for overblown fees (which they will be in Jan) unless they are the real deal & this is the only time we can get them.

Yes a greater depth of squad would help given the games we have played already, but we are hardly in a perilous league position. We are well ahead of probably where we expected to be by now. Do I want to push on further - yes of course, but its not as simple as just going out and throwing money at players.

They should have known (from previous experience) that this only gets people's expectations up.

So whilst I don't agree with the OTT stuff that Langers has mentioned (generally Wolves Twitter), I can also understand the frustration that we have 4 x days left of this window and have so far signed zero players.

Without trying to sound like "the players coming back from injury are like new signings" - the bench looked a lot stronger on Thursday with Jota, Boly & MGW on there.

With them back fit, the whole squad looks stronger. I think the Podence signing will happen. Ideally we could get an out and out centre forward in as well, but those are difficult to come by in the summer let alone in January.

If Podence does sign, we will have a core squad of around 20 players, with promising youngsters supplementing that. Hardly the desperate situation people like to portray.

I think the major 'problem' with recruitment is that we have built such a good squad in a short period of time, that getting players of the level of Neves/Moutinho/Jimenez to compete with/replace/deputise them is difficult. Players of that level will look at it and think I'm not going there to be a sub and we aren't as attractive a proposition of the likes of Liverpool/City/United etc to have quality players waiting around for an opportunity. See the difficulty Spurs have in having a back-up for Kane, who literally breaks for 3 months every season.

Theres frustration (something I'm sure those working on new signings within the club feel far more than we do) and there's tweeting nonsensical, attention seeking bullshit whilst having a tantrum screaming "it's not fair".

I've no ounce of sympathy for anyone posting that shit.
