January 2020 transfer window

Daniel Podence is absolutely class. Would love to see him here.

Nelson Oliveira... I wanted us to sign him 2 seasons ago but now... If we can get him cheap and he's happy playing off the bench then it wouldn't be the worst signing we've ever made.

"But this is impossible given our reluctance/inability to splash out. "

Then why were we first in the queue to sign Thomas Lemar for at least £50m until he decided to stay where he is until the summer?

Were we?

I think our move for Dias in the summer was real and we were happy to pay around £55m for him, as per his release clause but we couldn't pay it in one go as it would royally fook up our accounts and that was the only way Benfica would allow the deal to happen

Daniel Podence update:
Reports in Greece claim it is only a matter of time until Podence signs with Wolves.
A deal worthy €25million has been agreed with Olympiacos and the player could travel to the UK today.
Olympiacos remain silent but a deal could be sealed by tonight #WWFC

Excuse my ignorance, but how is this Podence lad's name pronounced?

I don't really know enough about Podence to whelmed, over or under. He looks tricky and pacy which is good, but I'd have rather sent bigger money on somebody who's best position was striker can also 'do a job' out wide - but that's not a moan. Oliviera is a bit meh, but if we can sort our starts out and be 2-0 up after an hour every now and again it'll be good to bring Raul off and not resort to th likes of BAS or playing somebody that's no good there. Either way it looks as if we're getting some strength on the bench which can only be a good thing.

I wouldn't say we are reluctant, but it's not part of our current Owners philosophy under which I can't see us ever breaking the world transfer fee.
it’s not a criticism of the club, But you allot our agreeing with me that they are reluctant [emoji2371]

Don’t believe everything you read on twitter...

I’m not so sure myself. Feel we were just used to get a new contract. But let’s say we were for the sake of our argument. Even if we weren’t “reluctant” on this occasion we certainly “didn’t have the ability” to spend this much.

Po-dence I think with the Po being said quickly

Rather than Pow-dence

Although being Portuguese it's probably Po-densh or something

I don't read twitter.

Also I'm not sure about any of these stories. They're all rumours after all, but some are more informed than others. I wouldn't discount them on the price alone nor would I assume Wolves were reluctant/unable to pay more than they have already for a player.

We will see.

the wo9lves boys here in the village who are big Olympiacos fans, rate this Podence guy.
he's quick, tricky works hard and puts a good ball in the box 9 times out of 10. they will be happy to see him at wolves as they love us to bits.
Olivera i will let you know when i ask tommorow.

Ha, just had a Facebook memory pop up. 9 years ago today, I was pleased that we'd signed Adam Hammill :icon_lol:

My Barnsley mate assured me he was really good.

I haven't forgiven him yet.

I still think there was a really good player in there but it was buried under too much twatishness

Podence is apparently pronounced:

Poh-den-suh
or
Poh-den-say

Based on the comms from the vids I saw.

The "dence" part can be said just like the dense word. I don't think English has an identical sound to "Pó" though, so the closest might be "Poh" instead of poe.
