January 2020 transfer window

I'd much rather we signed somebody capable of taking some pressure of Raul and play as the one up front if our starting formation is that wide attacking 3 we've seen for most of the season. I don't really want to see any of Adama, Nero or Jota being in that slot when Jiminez needs a rest. Depends on how ready Campana is I guess, but what I've seen of Podence is that he's very much a wide man

We don't rest Raul though, we don't even take him off because even when he's having a poor game (as he did on Saturday in the first half, as he did at Norwich, and indeed at home to City) he's likely to score later on.

Right now unless you're asking someone to swap one bench for another (and then the odds are they're going to be a big drop in quality, so why would you want to play them) then it's very difficult for us to sort out.

Olivera probably isn’t a bad shout as a second choice striker - he’s one of those that wants to feel loved, so I’m sure Nuno would get the best out of him - and when he’s playing well, he’s good in the air, holds the ball up well and scores goals.

A decent sub to give Raul a rest and not hugely expensive.

Which is why there may be some legs in the Oliviera link.

Plus he should have no problem settling given the Portuguese link, he's played in England before and he shouldn't be too expensive at all.

Of course you could question why if we actually are interested in him, we didn't do it in the summer when Norwich were desperate to get rid and he was totally frozen out (not sure AEK even paid a fee).

Oliveira was terrible for Reading, don't see the point. I'd rather start Jota through the middle than sign him

Maybe because we had decided on Cutrone, things have changed now.

Also he has 9 in 15 for AEK, decent, even given the level.

Oliveira joined Reading on a loan until the end of the season and became a popular figure at the Madejski Stadium but has subsequently spoken about how he struggled to adapt to life in England.

"If I didn't have this bad luck, I felt I would have scored 10 goals in that half season [at Reading]. In the six months I was out of Norwich, I knew I had to be ready in January, because there was going to be an opportunity for me to explode.

"My time in England helped to grow me a lot, both as a player and a person. I have never been a fan, as everyone knows, of life in England," Oliveira told Esporte ao Minuto. "It is no secret. For us Portuguese it is not an easy country to adapt to. Here in Greece it's easier; there's the beach, the good food, the good temperature and the sun."

I know of a few Portuguese who've done alright...

Still, that article reminds me of my big problem- his attitude stinks.

Just saw some clips of Podence.
Yes he is tiny, but very tricky, nice control and puts a decent ball in.

Be interesting to see how he does.

It's being reported now in most places that we are after Podence

Not a fan of this one. Hopefully he proves me wrong if he signs.

Sources here in Greece say that Wolves made an official offer which got rejected. AEK Athens will only sell him if the release clause of 6.5mil. euros is been matched.

Good business for them if they got him for free just a few months ago (I'm pretty sure they did).

I know it's chickenfeed for us in the grand scheme of things now but I wouldn't want to pay that for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he turned us down anyway. As per your article, now an overly happy in the UK and now playing and scoring.

Sources tell me both Podence, and Campana signing very soon.

One could say Jiminent

For someone to warm the bench and hopefully snatch a couple up front, I wouldn't mind him in the abstract for that price.

My concern is impact on the dressing room rather than cost.
