January 2020 transfer window

In the summer I wasn’t pant wetting. I was willing to give the club to the end of the window, I even criticised people for pant wetting. Then the more the days pass, the more you start to look think you might look stupid. Vallejo comes In an appeases, and the Cutrone links come out and we finally get over the line.

Now at the time I probably thought they were ok, but with benefit of hindsight I can see Vallejo was never going to work and Cutrone might be a good player in time, but not in the way we play.

Now the benefit of hindsight makes the justification to panic more real. Now I’m not panicking but I’m at least going to accept that things aren’t quite as rosy as they could be. We started the season with a thinner squad than last season despite having a ton more games to play. That squad is now ridiculously thin.

People are all well and good saying wait till the end of the window. But the same thing was said in the summer which was a fail. Then IF we fail this window, the same things will be said again:

“Look how far we’ve come”, “But FFP!”, “Nuno has worked magic already” “We don’t get injuries because of our back room team” “it’s hard to sign players because our first 11 is so good” etc.

Of course we need a striker more than anything else, but we need a top class striker.
so who is going to sell a top class striker halfway through their own season, and at a sensible price?
Which top class striker is going to come to Wolves to play second fiddle to Raul?
and frankly with so many clubs out there searching for this striker, which one is going to choose Wolverampton over London or Manchester.
We are for sure going to get gazzumped with regard to deals we had in the pipe line, and with so many teams out there ready to throw money at almost anyone, right now, we just need to be patiernt.
We know what we need, like i know what i need to make my life better out here, finding it and then affording it is another matter, and football is simply nuts on the money front these days.
It's a kin' nightmare.

Shall we just not bother then?

I have always been what is generally termed a Happy Clapper.
If they wore the shirt I give the unending support defending them to the max, because they wear my shirt, a shirt I would have died to wear.

Even I now look and wonder what is happening.
I trust Nuno, and I trust Fosun, BUT our transfer dealings over the last 12 months have not been good, they have not been disastrous, disastrous would be Watford.

I am hoping that Nuno, Jeff, and Thelwell have at least 3 quality signings to push us into the the top 6 and even the top 4 which trust me is really doable at the moment.

If on Feb 1st we have signed no one to strengthen the 1st team Squad, not the starting 11, but the bench, and not just in numbers then I will be seriously unhappy.

My paragraph probably says it all, it's not about numbers it's about the ability, reliability, and the fit into this strong close knit family that will prove to be the hardest thing in getting someone.

Who knows they may have looked at Gedson, done some homework and thought he would not fit in to the squad, no one outside of Nuno, his backroom staff, Thelwell, and Shi will ever know the workings.

Let's just cross our fingers and wait and see

Maybe the whole struggling to get players in isn't the scouts/back room team fault,it could be the whole selling Wolverhampton thing, not the team,(players can see we are doing ok and could think yea they look a good team) but the town, after all we are a post industrial town in the English Midlands,it just doesn't say,it's a nice place to live similar to maybe Plovdiv in Bulgaria,Düsseldorf or Galati in Romania, even though we all know you've got gorgeous Shropshire just up the road

Maybe, but then how did we get players in such as Neves, Jota, Moutinho, Costa, Cav and Rui? they were all coming from much more desirable locations and presumably had better options too.

I don't buy this, sorry.

Having been to Porto and Braga, outside the city centre it ain’t that great. Wergs looks like Mayfair.

Explain selling Tettenhall to Cav, Costa and Moutinho coming from Monaco then?

Sorry I meant to quote Keef. Supporting you that “desirability of area” isn’t that bad.

Moutinho probably prefers it here having a massive house in a quiet area for his young family for very little money (compared to Monaco).

Monaco isn't a nice a place as you think it is

I too fail to understand the levels of criticism at this particular stage in the window - I hope we're not at the same point in a few weeks time obviously because 13 fit senior players is not enough but I do wish the club received a tad more patience whenever something doesn't go the way we want or expect them to.
.
You're not allowed to say that !

Quite a few of ours have young families now so I don't think it's much of an issue for them. If we were after prime Ronaldinho then something tells me the nightlife might be an issue!

People calling for 3 quality signings...[emoji1787]

We're a lot more flexible than is being made out. I'd take one quality signing, and even that could just be a loan with view to buying later. Attack minded preferred, but doesn't need to be a Raul clone.

Stop panicking, I'd rather a small squad and opportunities for youth than a larger squad and unrest at not enough playing time with players.

"Stop panicking" is incredibly patronising. People talking about the transfer window shouldn't be deemed as panicking, it's a topic worthy of debate.

Also I haven't seen anybody on this thread "panicking" the posts have been constructive.
