JACKETT GONE

Cheers for the first two seasons and your professionalism during the takeover Kenneth. Wish you luck in the future.

Can't summon the enthusiasm to say more than that about him right now. I'm sure others will sum his time up here more eloquently than I could.

Would be over the moon with AVB/Silva. A guy like that coming in would be a real statement of intent and would open the door to signings like Talisca etc.

Very true

People on twitter (and Timbo a bit, too) seem rather put off by the timing of the announcement. Apparently it disrespects KJ somehow?

Personally I'd think there is no "good time" to sack someone.

well not often you get this sort of thing at night on a weekend

I think Tim II needs a hug over on Twitter

AVB not for me, regardless of the dressing room mafia Chelsea he showed weak leadership in bringing them together. Wasn't much better at Spurs and was average at Zenit. Did well at Porto with a side that should have walked that league regardless.

I'd imagine that Ken has been sacked for a while and they've just announced it now. I thought something was up when he wasn't quoted on the article welcoming Helder Costa.

He's definitely flying the KJ flag. "Never forget".

Fan first, journalist second from him at the mo.

Jackett probably knew hours (days) ago but the timing has been delayed until now to possibly beat newspaper deadlines or waiting on the word from Mr Other

True but 11.30 on a Friday night when everyone is discussing heading home to bed/going to a club/already in bed is a touch late and a little disrespectful

Achieved, over achieved, under achieved. A fair assessment of his time in charge of Wolves but last season was undeniably poor from start to finish. He may have been undermined with injuries and player departures but that is part of football and he didn't address the issues that were his responsibility to deal with.

Wolves are in the midst of a revolution.

Poor guy seems a bit sad doesn't he.

He's more shocked than anybody else, and he's the fucker who should know!

What good would waiting until Monday have done, though?

they should have done it earlier in the week before noon imo, but hey ho..done and dusted and im really happy(if we dont get bruce)

You can apply the weak leadership argument at Jose if you wanted after last season....

AVB would be a ridiculous appointment for a club in our position.

Ken was sanguine about the prospects of him leaving a couple of weeks ago. That's football. I don't think he'll have been told one thing a week ago and then sacked a week later, he will have known this was in the post. A year's payoff, no stigma attached to his sacking as he can just call "new owners", will easily get another gig with anyone who views L1 promotion/Champ mid-table as desirable. No need to feel too sorry for him.

I would say he has been in talks about leaving since Monday afternoon.

Sent the Kids to Northampton and gave Gallen & Edwards the job for the evening and no press work. Probably all sorted late today, nice extra sum on top of his 1 year pay off. Announced at 11pm as Jeff needed the thumbs up from HQ of Fosun and they were asleep earlier.

The reality is that due to the ownership situation, KJ has kept the Wolves job for about 9 months longer than he should have done and will now leave with a year's salary in his pocket and given his reputation, won't find it hard to get another job

Jackett wouldn't have been told at 11.30 would he. He will have shook hands on his pay off by clocking off time today.

Remember our ultimate bosses are a few hours ahead of us so we are going to get some stuff done outside of our normal hours.

He knew for weeks his days were numbered, he was always going to wait until he was pushed so he could get the pay off.

Wow. Big news. First feeling was of sadness, actually. For whatever shite was served up last season, no one can argue that Kenny worked professionally throughout his time in charge at Wolves - no more so than the last few weeks with his future up in the air. The first two seasons under him were great and I thank him for that. As others have said, he'll have a nice pay off and he won't struggle to find work elsewhere. I wish him all the best as he genuinely comes across like a top bloke.

As for us moving forward - exciting times ahead I feel. Watch this space!
