And I told you why it won’t change on the last page. US politicians believe they need the Jewish vote so they side with Israel. The rest of the west always sides with the US because reasons.
 
A man in rural NC has stabbed a young boy to death and left the boy’s mother in critical condition.

The man claims the attack was retribution for Hamas’ assault on Oct 7th. The victims were both Muslim.

Not trying to make this “Another Shooting” mk.II. Just so upsetting how far the effects of this conflict reach.

EDIT: Sorry, this happened in Illinois. Was being covered on local news and county names (Will County vs Wilks County) are similar so I got confused.

Aren't we all glad we have a bit of religion to fall back on and to comfort us in our times of loneliness and grief?
I remember when Salman Rushdie brought out his big book, 'The Satanic Verses'. Cat Stevens at the time, a 'famous' and high profile 'celebrity', coming out and publically encouraging people of his faith to hunt down Rushdie and kill him!

Cat Stevens is an absolute cunt and should have been arrested. It is actually against the law to publically encourage people to kill someone.

You don't think a hugely well-known celebrity and famous Muslim convert publicly supporting the death sentence for the creation of art makes/made any difference!?

The lack of support at the time for Rushdie is a shameful, craven episode in Western cultural history
 
As soon as Tehran knew about the existence of the book the fatwa was on. And you would be amazed what their secret police can find out about.
 
No wish to derail the thread, I just think the existence/origination of the fatwa and public tolerance (and in the case of Yusuf Islam, open support) of it are two issues

That's not quite true. Yusuf Islam didn't go out and about campaigning for the death of Rushdie. He was asked and gave his opinion that "He must be killed, the Qur'an makes it clear if somone defames the prophet, then he must die".

The media saw this as Yusuf Islam's support for the killing of Rushdie and the next day, he released a statement saying that he was not personally encouraging anybody to be a vigilante, and that he was only stating that blasphemy is a capital offence according to the Qur'an.

Just to be clear, I am NOT condoning Yusuf Islam's seemingly 'naive and in bad taste comnents' that he made at the time.

Well no but I suspect Abbas would love to see Hammas exterminated. Not sure how you do this with lots of collateral casualties among the innocent.

Not if it's the God who wrote about Jihad in the Quran. Like in the Torah, there's some mighty bloodthirsty and ambiguous stuff in there...
