No great shock.

I'm sure the club will look after him as he continues to get well.

What a shame, but if anyone's earned some time with his family, it's him.

Wish him all the best for the future.

Sad news but probably for the best for him. Almost certain the club we look after him and will give him a role within the club if he wants it.
Main thing is his recovery is going well which is all that matters football comes a distant 2nd.

I’m just glad he is well and able to make this decision. I hope wolves do everything they should to look after him.

Sad but it must be the best for him and his family

Sadly this was one the cards from Day 1. At least he was the one that made the decision rather than the cancer. As stated, Wolves will look after him if he wants to remain at the club in some capacity

Not entirely unexpected, but his health is more important, would think the club will look after him,and sort out some sort of testimonial/charity type game in the future

Sad news. Wish Carl all the very best as he continues forward with his recovery. As others have said, he will know it's the best decision and that some things are more important than football. He will be looked after by the club - that much I'm sure of.

As has been said, sad but inevitable. Good luck to him in whatever he decides to do.

Sad to hear, it was always going to be very difficult for him to come back. Hope to see him round wolves, he's still my son's favourite player and receiving a message from Carl on twitter is probably the highlight of his life.

Can't help but be moved by all the comments and the video with Carl got me man. Great servant, never wanted to leave when game time was limited, he literally fought to be at Wolves and won that, he also fought the greatest of threats and won that. Am I silly to say Wolves should retire the number one shirt, some sentiments in football should remain surely.

On the cards I suppose.

We might see him on commentary with Mikey, he'd done it a few times during his other injuries. Had his own Gary Neville moment as Weimann rounded the Liverpool goalie at Anfield.

The main thing is he's healthy or at least well on the way to getting back to full health.

Rui Patricio really is the man with the permanent scowl, even Doherty managed to crack a smile!

Man watching all this stuff puts a massive lump in the throat. Sad but inevitable for Ikeme, he is right family comes first before everything and I wish him every happiness for the future.

All the best, Carl - you've been a great servant of the club for many years and hopefully they will continue to look after you in the years to come. Wishing you much health and happiness!
