Ikeme retires

Some ambassadorial role will be in the offing, for sure.

I don't listen to radio comms (cannot be doing with every ball into our box sounding like it's going to be a goal) but apparently he was quite good on that vs Liverpool.

A shame to hear but it is something that we were all expecting from day one. Seemed like a really nice guy and it is a great shame that he has had the rest of his career and possibly a place in the World Cup squad taken away by illness. Never let his head drop despite all the loan moves and fought hard to win the shirt. Wish him all the best for the future.

Was certainly better on comms than a lot were

Great interview. Sensible sound decision. He obviously has a cool calm manner on air. I am certain he could have a media career or some ambassadorial role. Good luck for the future.

met him 2 or 3 years back when we (Malta Wolves) presented him with our player of the season award. a really nice guy and we had a brief chat about the half time 'Saunders' incident.
glad his health is improving but probably wouldn't have got a look in team wise now. good luck and best wishes to him for all he's given us over the years.

All the best to him! It's been pretty much a year on from discovering he had this horrible condition. It was a real shock at the time, and a stark reminder that cancer, in all it's forms, really can hit anyone at any time. Hope he continues his recovery and goes one to enjoy the rest of a long and fulfilling life.

I'm saddened by the news that Carl's soccer career is cut short but I'm delighted for him that it is his career and not his life. It's wonderful that he is now in remission and beyond chemotherapy. Having accompanied my wife through two years of surgery, chemotheraphy, and radiation (the full works), I know close up what he has gone through. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, it's so brutal. But being on the other side means there is a life to be lived. May he now live well!

Great touch from a club that’s lost it’s soul.

The Nigerian FA are offering to pay his coaching badges and want him on the coaching side for the national team

Good article. Lovely to read that Nuno was calling Carl to discuss performance and tactics after games.

It's a great article. And the goalkeepers' union clip is just awesome. I never tire of watching that.

Carl has got a chance at full recovery, and it is great to hear that both Wolves and Nigeria want to keep him involved in the game. I hope he can be there on Saturday if possible as I think the roof would come off the joint if he could walk out onto the pitch.

Have him walk out and hand Rui the number 1. Passing of the guard of sorts.

It'd be audible Lisbon.

Very good article. Tut tut about the live streaming to his hospital bed (joke, I can't do smileys with this thing).
