If Not Lage, Then Who?

Not really convinced that's a thing anymore. It was Thelwell who came up with it.

You’re always a bundle of fun, how about not wanting him for his racism towards anton Ferdinand, his shagging another players wife, and his just general unpleasantness?

I wasn't referring to Terry specifically. Compliments are always gratefully received though 💋

Thomas Frank is doing good things at Brentford and he's also working in a system similar to ours, in that he doesn't directly pick the players but has a final say / veto in signing decisions.

I don't think a change of manager is solely the answer though. I also think we need someone analogous to Thelwell. He played a much larger part in our success than we as fans give him credit for.

Julien Stephan is one from left field. Did a good job with Rennes, won a cup and got them into the CL and is now at Strasbourg.

Plays an attacking 433.

Plays 3-5-2 doesn't he?

Used to play 4-3-3 with Rennes. Sounds a good tactician and has obviously over achieved with both clubs.

Was at Strasbourg last weekend watching their game against Reims. Played a fairly fluid 3-5-2 in that game, was very odd. In complete control and let them back in due to some very rogue substitutions (including the wing backs swapping sides!). Very impressive first half where they could have scored a few from some really good crossing positions. However, then in the second half brought Ajorque on (who really is a head on a stick, odd footballer!), and then stopped crossing then ball! Baffling.

I'd only seen 433 as I haven't watched Strasbourg. I only really watched Rennes as it was during lockdown and I was just watching any football I could get.

This doesn't sound as promising haha. Good insight, thanks.

IMHO - Bruno has to go. He is lacklustre, we are clueless in attack even with quality players. We now have a good squad and bench but no-one seems to know how to play.

When Bruno is interviewed he makes no sense so dread to think what he says to the players even in Portuguese!

Such a great shame with all this talent - surely someone out there could do better and relish the chance to work with the likes of Neves, Nunes, etc.

I will be watching this evening from behind the sofa!

On Sunday I was working at our Bowls Club - goal alert one …. Ping…. Neves, then goal alert two…… Ping ….. Jimenez, then goal alert three…… Ping….. VAR, then I knew if another one came it would be 1-1 ……. And it was!

Are you blaming Bruno for VAR now? Seems a bit harsh 🙃
