How long has Corbyn got left?

Legalise weed, grow it on an industrial scale using the land currently set aside by farmers for EU subsidies that will end, tax it and licence people to buy it from chemists and pay a monthly subscription of 15 quid as a licence fee. It would make a fortune.

Govern and Tax the vices ! It would reduce crime for a start. Not sure the religious would approve.

I would set it above what is deemed the national living wage therefore appx £20k. I would be more concerned with the median wage than the average wage.

The national minimum wage is £8.21 an hour. That's £17k a year. So anyone on minimum wage is near vulnerable.

Plus the Conservatives want to raise the minimum wage to £10.50 an hour £21,800 a year.

Yeah that promise has already been changed...and also perfectly done so the can repromise before the next election and hope people forget (they will ) they promised it and then backtracked 2 days after they won

Median income in the last available statistics is about £23k, by the way

And 15 quid a month = 180 quid a year. Even if every man, woman and child adopted a serious weed habit you're talking about less than 1% of GDP.

And, of course, were that to happen I'm not convinced UK productivity wouldnt take a hit, if you'll pardon the phrasing.

Utterly missing the point that there would be savings on court time, prosecutions, better quality controls, medical benefits . the licence fee would mean you could scrap the TV licence too. Another saving. Another thing to benefit the lower paid.

Personally I would rather have 1% of GDP raised this way than lost!

National living wage is deemed appx £19.5K for UK and weighted to £22.5k in London (for a 40 hour week) per annum.

But my point is that we should all (above a certain level) pay more tax to meet the demand and not single out the better off.

Drug test people at work to keep in line with health and safety. It would largely self regulate and if you cannot perform your duties because you are off your tits then it's P45 time.

why? just fucking why?

Someone on £19.5k is really struggling to make the bills already. The better off aren't. It's an appalling policy idea. Go and sit next to Rees Mogg on the benches.

Where's my benefit as I don't touch weed, having tried it as a student and fucking hated it? Legalise it and my street stinks even fucking more of skunk if a bunch of weed loving wankers move in, and I can't get them nicked. Fuck them off. SHITE IDEA.

Alcohol is much worse than weed and that's legal. I have had plenty of roll around mash ups with drunks but stoners tend to just giggle, giggle and giggle a bit more. I think you need to drag yourself into the 21st century. It will be legal and it will be licensed. The sooner the better and unfortunately , under the tories, it will be privatised rather than a state run business. The war on drugs was lost by 1990.

Because Padd 5% of the population of the UK pay 50% of the income tax. So the top earners do support the country and they can afford too. 50% of the country do not pay income tax at all. So that justs leaves middle England picking up the tab. Tax should be incremental starting at 5% up to 20k 10% 20-25k, 15% 25-30 k, 20% 30-35k, 25% 35-40k, 30% 40-45K, 35% 45-50k, 40% over 50k 50% over 100k.

couple that with universal basic income and you have a winner all round-and an end to benefits fraud. A truly social change.

It was interesting to look at what tax credits a single mum on 19.5 k with 2 kids under 20 could get.

My sister fits in your convenient stereotype. There are tax credits and childcare assistance you can get to help, still doesn’t make for an easy life by any stretch.

Im sorry I cant fucking even begin to engage with you on it Cyber. The mother of my children was a single mum after she didn't want to be with me any more back in the day. She got credits towards a council house and obviously I had to help but if you think my kids were going to Barbados every fucking fortnight they damn well weren't.

Your views are fucking misinformed and wrong, but you get to keep spouting them. Fucking stop it.

Where the hell did that come from?

I think you pick on the poster rather than the post. I have been a single parent but , fortunately earned enough as a forty hours a week shift working police officer. Tax credits didn't exist. I got an allowance for one and chilkd benefit. I had live in child care. It was no picnic. We had no holidays. But I was still paying 20% in tax.

Just saying.

How is that mis informed and wrong?

Well, it came from your last post on the thread I reckon. There's a shock.

I worked like fuck to pay my way to them as long as I could until my own job fell apart at that time. Without credits then, my kids would have starved. I'm sorry, but your "let's see "it was interesting to look at what tax credits a single mum on 19.5 k with 2 kids under 20 could get" post was entirely about vilifying those claiming benefits. Get em in the poor house, eh? Seen it, quoted it, judged you on it, found you wanting.

No wrong.

It was entirely about putting you back in your box with your 19.5 k struggling to pay bills as if there is no other help available.

Which is exactly what you were insinuating. There is help available.

You just like to vent your spleen. Doesn't make you right.
