Good people of Britain...........PANIC

Just cycled home wearing some winter gloves "guaranteed to keep your hands warm ".
Instantly put the kettle on & made a cuppa to help warm my frozen hands!

Ironically the winter gloves are decathlon items!
Think I'll get some glove liners, and also a balaclava.

Rode last night and it was brutal. We ride through the winter and have ridden in colder temperatures in the past but that was bloody cold. Normally ride for 2 hours but cut it short by half an hour as everyone had a numb something or other. Will have to get a thicker buff thingy for under the helmet as actually started feeling the top of my head go numb. Never enjoyed a warm pub as much.

Not sure why it was so bad when the temp was ‘only’ -1 or so, but that just felt vicious.

I had gloves on this morning and my hands were FREEZING.

I do have some heated gloves somewhere, will need to dig them out.

I used to ride a bike to work before I learned to drive, I always found thermal mittens to be the best for keeping your fingers warm.

Found the best thing for keeping fingers and toes warm is to keep your core warm first. I bought some cheap but cracking skiing base layers from Aldi which really work, and they’re nice and thin so you don’t get that Michelin man bulkiness either.

Still need a good pair of gloves and I tend to wear their ski socks which are really good too, but I found until I got the core temp sorted I was really fighting the fingers and toes.

Off out again this morning for about 3 hours, predicted roughly +3, going to try my Wolves beanie under the helmet this time because the wind on the tips of the ears feels like a scalpel blade at times.

Well the snow has finally gone....just replaced by rain...lots and lots of rain.

Absolutely brutal over the chase this morning. Still some snow, loads of ice and freezing rain and stupid wind.

Try these, had them on motorbikes, theory is your fingers being together keeps them warmer, also good for doing the live long and prosper spock thing, and pretending you’re dr zoidberg from futuramaIMG_2340.jpeg

I use that style on my motorcycle in the Winter, work pretty well.

I have been out doing a load of gardening jobs today. Burnt to a fucking cinder.
