General Wolves News

Yeah, I voted for that one. Raul vs Spurs was close though.

Neves v United was a favourite of mine from last year, love a strike that goes in off the bar

The team vs solo goal debate. I'm always in favour of the screamer. I voted for Neves, but Raul's at Burnley was a bigger wow moment for me.

They are just waiting for the result of the second test to see if he can join the Spain squad I thought?

BBC said yesterday Enrique said he had a knock and would miss tonight but be in contention for Sunday so who knows what’s going on. All a bit strange.

Not sure where to put this but the PL has terminated its Chinese TV deal, which can't be good for us.

(More from a general marketing perspective and our ownership, than a "we can't sign anyone now etc" view.

The Premier League confirms that it has today terminated its agreements for #PL coverage in China with its licensee in that territory.

The #PL will not be commenting further on the matter at this stage.
What does this mean for us and Fosun?

That's well odd given the recent Asia Trophy etc.

Politics ay it, we're trying to stay onside with the US and Trump, which means relations with China have been strained.

That their plan to make Wolves huge in China has been hit massively.

back to concentrating on Mexico then...

Whoever had the deal didn't pay the installment required this year so deal binned. Not sure if the Chinese Government control that or not but things between USA/UK & China are bit narky at the moment. I would expect a new deal in place in the next 12 months or so. Especially if the USA bin their Wotsit in Chief and then our PM will follow whatever the new President does and we will stop accusing of them of being dodgy.

Stopped paying it around the time the UK Government pulled Huawei from 5G.

Its worrying this I've read a lot from people who've done business in China/with Chinese companies etc and it seems the state influence/almost control over businesses (included Fosun) is massive.

Fosun are bit street smart and the majority of their money is kept out of China. A lot of companies/individuals have seen the Government freeze bank accounts but it would be small % of their money taken if they did that to Fosun. The big boss man might vanish again but he seems pally with the Government at the moment and investing in areas they are happy with and within China as well.

Thats my worry if they're ONLY investing in areas the Chinese government are happy with.

Would go some way to explain a lot of massive plans suddenly being stopped/scaled back. From redevelopment of the ground (remember how big they were talking) to players, hell to even replacing directors!

They are still investing outside of China. Heavily in New York for example and have just recorded some whopping great profits.

The only time to really worry is when Fosun move their money to China and drop all outside investements and they are not showing any signs of doing that. Despite all the mess, the Chinese Governement still want football to be a success and Fosun are playing it right. They have purchased a foreign team but they are then putting things back into the country. We have created jobs in China off the back of that and have an ever expanding footballc coaching programme. They have put themselves at the front of finding the 1st Chinese mega footballing star and their Government like that approach

This isn’t good news but not a catastrophe, it’s in Fosuns best interest to at least keep us in the PL for a prolonged period. Even if they were looking to sell the club on they’ll get far more of a clubs sat in the PL.
